    Kitchen remodel
    $8,900

Similar to everyone else that has posted, David Bannister started a remodel project for me and never finished, despite being provided payment in full ($8900). The basics of the job were completed, but none of the trim or upgraded cabinet features. These were all supposedly items he special ordered and would come back to install, yet I discovered they are actually stock items at Home Depot. Additionally, there are nails and screws sticking out of cabinets, damage to the new Formica countertop, which is already peeling off in places. Plus, he left a couple sections of wall unfinished and an electrical mess, which could have caught my home on fire. I am having to pay thousands to clean up his mess. The electrician finished today, and the plumber is next on the list. His con is that he is a family man taking care of his elderly parents and needed the money before the job was finished because he needed to pay bills. I naively paid him. He then stopped responding to calls and texts. I sent him a letter. I even went to his house with a witness, at which time he said he knew he needed to come back but had been sick and would have it done in time for Thanksgiving. He never came. He’s done this to enough people that it should be a criminal matter.

    House remidel
    $20,000

Reading these reviews have prompted me to write one as well. We hired Dave in April 2019 to help remodel a duplex we just purchased. We gave him over $10,000 over the span of several months, only to discover he was not completing the work as described (we live out of state). He was also cheating vendors and not paying them for materials he used in our duplex. They are now calling us and threatening to put liens on our home because Dave didn’t pay them with the money we paid him! We’ve had to hire someone else now to do finish and repair the work that he started and made a mess of. We are starting legal action against him. I have a feeling there are more of us out there.

    Home Repair and Remodel
    $2,600

I had a similar experience. I gave money up front to David with a contract but no work was ever done and no materials received. He only stayed in contact for 3 weeks then nothing. I am a divorced single mom, I cant afford to have that money gone. I contacted the BBB they cant get a hold of him. Small claims court is my next step. Sounds like a group of us could go after him at this point.

    Remodel
    $35,000

We had David bid a job for a build-out over our garage. This was in February of 2019...he quoted us $35,000 for the job and asked for $7,000 down (which, in hindsight, we stupidly paid). He didn't show up in March or April...he claimed he had "health issues." Finally, he showed up in May and tore a large hole in the garage ceiling so he could remove the insulation, hung the new floor joist headers and this is where we sit in mid-July. He will not respond to text, email or phone and now we need to figure out how to get our $7000 back. DO NOT HIRE!!! HE IS A CON-MAN!!!!

    Bathroom, kitchen
    $45,000

David Bannister started a project for us in January of 2019, took 6 months to partially remodel 2 bathrooms, and now will not return calls, answer texts, and has abandoned our project. He charged us for kitchen cabinets, flooring, and windows and sliding doors, but we found out later from the providers that he never ordered any of those things. The demo that he did on our project was messy, time consuming, and he never cleaned up after himself. He was never on time with the deadlines he set for himself. He is not registered with the state of Idaho as a contractor, and also never provided us with paperwork that the state of Idaho requires when a contract is signed. We are currently taking legal action against him. Be smarter than we were and do not use this contractor.
