We talked to him about remodeling our bathroom at the end of June and he was supposed to start the end of August. We started asking him the beginning of September when he was going to start and he always had an excuse until he started November 29th. He came and worked a couple of half days that week and his subcontractors did a little bit of work as well. When he had the bathroom half way torn apart he told me he didn't have a plumber for the job. I had to give him our plumbers number so that work could continue. The next week very little was happening and I tried to express our frustration with the progress being made. He told me that he quit and that I could do it myself. I called him and tried to work out our differences and he cussed me out for 20 minutes. He told me that I was an ungrateful POS amongst other things. The drywallers showed up Friday around 9 as they were already scheduled. They talked for a few minutes and said that the job wasn't ready for drywall for a list of reasons and that they would be back Monday. I tried calling and texting Jake and he would not get back to me until almost 5 stating it was ready. I sent a bunch of pictures to my uncle who has been in construction for most of his life. He told me not to let anyone do any worker until he came over. I had to buy a bunch of lumber and materials to fix the work that Jake had done. My uncle had to reframe the doorway as it was done improperly. We had to remove the trim and doors on the bathroom storage closet, we had to take down a wall of plaster and lath, we had to frame around the hvac venting, put plates over all the electrical and plumbing so that the drywallers wouldn't accidentally nail through them and we had to place some 2x4s in the walls where there wasn't any backing for the drywall to be nailed to. We also had to shop vac out all of the debris in the walls that were demoed. Our Oynx shower base is not level and there are large gaps around it. We don't know if that can be fixed until we are able to find someone to finish the bathroom.
