Barton Construction & Development

Do not use Barton Construction, he doesn’t know what he is doing, he left us hanging on building our home. There were Lien’s on our home for sub contractors he did not pay, we had to find another builder to correct and finish our home. He stole from us. He is incompetent and a liar. He stole from us. I pray until he makes good on what he have done, he reap what he put out there.

I'm torn on what rating to give here. We hired Brent for a job. We had a crew ready to do the work so all Brent had to do was oversee the job. His engineer was very incompetent. Our city inspector showed up at the same time the engineer was on site. The city inspector approved all the work the privately paid engineer was going to reject. Brent did take a set of plans that we had mostly completed from another person and had them finished to code that allowed us to get our building permit from the city. Secondly Brent bounced a check to the city for the building permit. I got a call from the city and promptly paid it within the hour. Brent did work with our crew foreman to go over how things needed to be done. For that Brent gets a 3.5 star. 2nd project. Brent was going to obtain permitting and oversee a second job (same crew as before). Brent completely disappeared on us. He took the $1k down payment and *poof*. No permit, no returned phone call, nothing. After 2 - 3 months of calling he finally answered my call. As of this writing he had not returned our deposit. Steer clear of Brent Barton Construction.

Absolutely horrible experience with this contractor. He does not pay his subcontractors or suppliers. We had a lien placed on our house months after our project was completed because he never paid the plumbing company for materials. He made a million excuses for why he didn't pay the company and promised to reimburse us (because we had to pay the plumbing company to remove the lien). We are STILL waiting to be reimbursed. His lack of integrity and professionalism make him a very poor choice. DO NOT use this person!

I would NOT recommend this builder to anyone. Having paid a substantial deposit (5 figures) at time of signing contract to build a new home in May of 2016, all the builder provided was a set of plans and a lot survey. Excuses and apologies are the only product this builder provided. After 11 months of waiting for construction to begin I had to terminate his services.
Check his LLC registration with the Secretary of States office. Not only have I lost the deposit, I've lost interest on the building loan and a year of waiting.
