We hired Basements by Tim to redo our basement. Things with Tim went downhill fast. He left the jobsite and did not return on several days. Lots of excuses as to why the job wasn't finished. The subcontractor told us that Tim wasn't paying him. Tim took our money upfront to buy counter tops and cabinets, then used that money on his own personal items. We are now suing him in Will County to get our money back because he didn't do the job.

This man is an absolute fraud. He will take your money, ask for more, make excuses, never return your calls or messages And then disappear. He makes new business names so that people are not aware of his horrible reviews. Then he and his wife have the audacity to post on social media all of their new home renovations and purchases. Probably with the same money he’s stealing from customers.
**Stay away from this man and his business!!!!**** -

I really wish I should’ve did more investigating before I gave this man 4,000 for a deposit . As it stands, he has every single excuse in the book why he CANNOT start a job! The story is too long for me to get off into but pleaseeeeeee avoid this man at all cost. If you’ve given him money. File a police report ASAP as well as a report with the States Attorney consumer fraud division!

My client found him and gave him some money upfront for “supplies”. He never came back. The man is a thief.

We had a major remodel which ended up costing 38 k with bid of 29K. We have to remove tile and have a complete redo of bathroom. Grout was thrown on 1/2 to inch thick. Doors don’t close properly. And paint was horrible. Project was hweeks over date promised. Works when he wants to and doesn’t stay on job . Will disappear and you hunt him down phone calls and text message. Rude and argumentative. Gives allowances but puts in garbage
My advice do not hire . His pictures are truly not his work. -

I had a similar experience like Jessica. Don’t hire him. His work is ok. He’s unorganized & full of excuses on why he isn’t on the job. A 4 week project turn into 13 weeks. He has poor communication skills and just does his own thing. Thankfully my project did get completed but I’ll never ask him to come back. Don’t hire him.

I hired Tim to complete a large project for my home. At our initial meeting he told me it would take 4-6 weeks to complete and he would be working from approximately 8-6 everyday. Things started off great and then suddenly went downhill, he started showing up at random times during the day, working for an hour and then leaving for hours, sometimes coming back and sometimes not. He seemed to do everything he could to cut corners on work and take the cheapest way out. Numerous quality issues and excuses started happening. He began to not respond to text messages or calls and it would take days to weeks of constant contact before he would finally show up again and say he would be working the whole day then only put in an hour or two of work and then disappear for weeks again. The project dragged on for many months and was never fully completed yet he took all my money and now will not return phone calls or texts. What I have been left with is a poor quality unfinished job that I now have to spend $1000s of dollars to have another contractor fix and complete. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY. Unprofessional, unreliable and a scammer.

I second everything these other reviewers said! I just wish I would have read the reviews BEFORE hiring this guy! Tim is not capable of managing a remodel project. He is terribly unorganized, mis manages money, and is generally very bad at the basics of construction. Every wall and soffit he created is curved or unlevel. The ceiling slopes the cabinets were hung uneven, we had to rip out the tile he installed in the shower because it looked like a kid cut it. He didn’t finish any aspect of the job fully. He started off working a somewhat full day, then he started making excuses for why he wasn’t showing up or showing up for an hour and leaving. We finally had to cut our loses 12 weeks into a 4 week project and fire him. The new contractors we hired laughed at the work he did. Please do yourself a favor and run away from this guy!
