We hired Ian Clark, the business owner, to refinish our floors. The agreement was that he would receive half the payment after the first day and the rest when he finished the job. Instead, he asked for the first installment when he first got there to buy “supplies”. We paid him anyways. Then he came back to ask for additional money to buy even more supplies. We paid him that too! Then when he half-finished the job, which was mediocre at best, he was paid the last installment in full by my wife who forgot she’d already paid him some of it. He was not even decent & honest enough to remind my wife of that, but he gladly took the money even though there were flaws and was supposed to come back to correct and finish.
Yap, you guessed it! He never came back or answered his phone again.
DO NOT fall for that nice family-run business image where he sends his wife out for estimates. Stay away from this business. He's in it for the fast buck.
