BLUF: DO NOT hire B.C. & Sons Const. Bill is dishonest, incompetent, and unreliable. He claims 8 full-time employees when he actually has only 2 employees, him and his son. He hires temporary day-laborers and sub-contracts out to incompetent people. He assured me the projects (basement and bathroom) would be completed within 8 weeks. However, neither was completed after 12 weeks. He is extremely slow and worked no more than 6 hours per day M-F, and on many occasions only he or his son was present for work. He was paid a considerable amount of money and fell woefully short of fulfilling his part of the contract.
He treated the inside of my home like it was an outdoor construction site by leaving dirt, rocks, and other debris strewn throughout the basement, bathroom, and adjoining rooms. His crew also damaged (cracked) 3 walls, stained hallway and bedroom carpets, and popped 30 nails in the dining room ceiling. He claimed the damage to the walls was done by me, even though the walls were painted a week prior to his arrival. He also stated the ceiling pops are a result of poor construction and not the result of him using a 10-pound sledge hammer on the bathroom floor above.
He was paid in full for the basement and failed to complete the project, and even sent me a bill for "extras" that he claimed were installed. The basement project was nothing more than finishing walls, installation of several bifold doors and drop ceiling, and refinishing the staircase. He completed only 90% after 12 weeks. Shameful.
He was paid half of the price for the bathroom remodel and departed the project with the bathroom in total disarray [gutted]. He bragged about his knowledge of tiled showers and the use of "Schluter" shower systems and trim. It quickly became obvious that he was lying after he was caught watching installation instructions on You-Tube, and his tile sub-contractor was completely clueless about installation. In addition, the tile was installed incorrectly and the trim looked like it was installed by a child.
