By Patricia K.July 26, 2022Fix a stoppage and pump issue with plumbing.
John was incredibly responsive, on time, and immediately identified the issue I was having with my plumbing. He helped figure out a reasonable range of responses, and I would definitely use him again.

Had John out and he was very thorough and knowledgeable. I had a competitor tell me I needed a new tub because the drain was broken. Bear Plumbing had me up and running again same day with parts on hand from the van.

Scam Alert. I was assigned this company by my home insurance provider (AHS) Bear showed up, took a 2 second look at my leaky faucet and said, AHS wont cover this for you but I have a new faucet in my truck, I can install it for $XXX right now. Seems like a common shady practice by this company. (Read the other reviews) They then submitted a report to AHS saying the faucet was broken do to excessive blunt force??? Who would do that to be out of a faucet for all the hassle and cost it takes. Avoid this company at all costs.

Beware of these fraudsters!! Worst and worthless company that I have ever encountered! They came through the home warranty company knowing exactly what needs to be done. I looked at their dispatch notes which had identical notes about my issue and what needs to be done. The guys who came to address the issue only verbally asked me again what needs to be done and immediately left saying that they don’t do that work. This was just a ploy to get their call fee even though they already knew exactly what needs to be done. How low can these guys go just to extract money. Will warn every other person not to take their service and if they come via a warranty company, please deny their service and do not let them schedule an appointment as they make their money only by denying the service and collecting the service fee illegally!

AHS sent them out, less than 5 minutes later they left stating they needed to get an authorization. Nothing happens for a day and after calling AHS it turns out they submitted an authorization stating I modified the plumbing hidden in a wall and they would need to charge an extra fee to fix a simple leak at a joint.

By James M.December 31, 2020AHS Warranty hired them to look at a leaky faucet in shower.
Called warranty service AHS and they outsourced the call. Faucet mixit valve in shower was leaking. Bear reported that the leak was caused by excessive force. In all my years in construction I have never heard of this. The plumber was lazy and didn't have a clue, or was trying to get out a claim. Never use these people ever!!!

By Alyson D.June 24, 2020Install a kitchen faucet, a disposal and set a new toilet on already exposed and prepped plumbing.$2,400
I scheduled Bear Plumbing to install a new kitchen faucet in a brand new kitchen with holes already drilled and new valves at the ready, a disposal and to set a new toilet where the old one had already been taken off.
He finished the job in 45 minutes and demanded $2400 for the work.
I almost fell over when I heard the price. and requested a detailed invoice which lists his labor hours and parts used.
He told me verbally that he used $600 worth of parts (yet everything was prepped for him) and this was his flat fee for this kid of job. If he had indeed used $600 worth of parts that would mean he was charging me $1800 worth of labor —— for 45 minutes?
I have, of course, consulted with several other plumbers and contractors who said that for what he did it should’ve been anywhere from $500 to 1500 —- at the very most.
The man who owns the company goes by John but his real name is Ogan Tiratsuyan.
I have requested a detailed invoice with all costs and parts nine times both to him and to his office. He refuses to present this.
The guy is a predatory pricer. Since I have read nightmare stories just like mine all over the web about him.
His Better Business Bureau rating is a D. The California Contractors Association has a list complaints on him and is processing one for me as
Stay away; he’s a swindler.

Bear Plumbing are Crooks!!!! They were assigned to us from American Home Shield to fix a leak under our kitchen sink. The charged us $5000.00 for a 2 hour job. This is how the evening went down: The had to open up our lower back sink wall in order to see the pipe. There was definitely a broken pipe behind the wall that was leaking sink water underneath our house and it smelled really bad. But here is where the scam came into to play;
• They said they had to look under the house for a closer check of the pipes but could not do so because it had been raining and the crawl space was flooded. Having said that, pumping out the water would cost, but they could not tell me how much because they did not know how many gallons of water. (it would make sense if they had a price per gallon). Thinking that I should trust them, I said go ahead and pump the water .
• Then they needed to evaluate the pipes underneath in the crawlspace. They said they would have to replace 7 feet of pipe.
• At this point there was no going back, my home was completely exposed to the air from the crawlspace, they said it would cost between $4500.00 - $6000.00.
• They said it would take approximately 4 hours to complete. I recall this specifically because I had to coordinate picking up my daughter. From what I understood, it would be a long very difficult job with lots of repiping.
They completed the work within a 2 hour time frame. Within the 2 hours, I did not see them bring in a single pipe in the crawlspace whatsoever. I believe that they completely took advantage of a our situation. They swindled us for $5000.00. An honest company would have adjusted the price because it did not take as long as first estimated. Do not use this company, they are NOT HONEST! They also left a mess of plastic tarp under our home, which did not allow our crawlspace to dry out. The main sales guy tried to deny that the tarp was not their only to turn to his co-worker who admitted that he put the tarp down! -

I had nasty sewer water coming up out of my bath tub and shower last night. I called american home shield and they sent out Bear Plumbing the next day. So glad they did because John and his associate tried multiple times to clear my clogged lines. After a few tries, they determined that it was a different issue altogether. If it was anyone else, they would have just nickel and dimed me into more services to tell me what was actually going on. Next time I have any issues with my plumbing, I'll be calling these guys direct!

I posted on 10/29/2013 (see below). After everything I went through with Bear I called to make a complaint. Not about the service provided or lack of knowledge from the technician, but the customer service I received from the tech. I was told that I would receive a call back that day from the business owner to hear and further handle my complaint. I was told that Bear takes these complaints serious. More than 24 hours has gone by and I have yet to hear from the business owner regarding my complaint. It is obvious that Bear does not care about customer service. It is obvious that Bear employs unprofessional people that do not have the knowledge base to do their job. For example....
As I explained in my last post Bear denied that there was a problem with my toilet. Even after explaining what the problem was over and over again, I was denied. At first I thought maybe I was wrong. Maybe there was nothing wrong with my toilet. Well hear you have it. Another plumber has inspected my toilet and confirmed that it does need to be replaced and that Bear did not properly diagnose the problem.
Point blank....... Bear is an unprofessional and untrained company. Stay away!! I am a do it yourselfer and knew more about my toilet than this "licensed?" plumber. Not to mention the customer service was horrible, and it is obvious that the owner could careless about employing unprofessional employees.

(What a joke! The technician who arrived was the most unprofessional person I could imagine. It was like talking to a wall, and after working in law enforcement for several years I can easily say that he looked "STONED"! When I tried to explain the problem he looked at me with a blank stare and simply said, "there is nothing wrong with this toilet." I even explained that an emergency technician had been out earlier in the week and diagnosed the need for a new toilet. To that he replied that the other company was just trying to push a sale. Believable, but not true at all. The emergency tech refused to do the work because his prices were higher than what could be found through an in network (cheap) plumber. Not once did the emergency plumber try to make a sale. In fact, he instructed me on how to continue using the toilet without causing it to clog. The fact is, this was horrible customer service! This was my first experience with Bear, but after realizing the type of people they employ, I will not be calling them back. These are not professional plumbers who can diagnose a problem. May they are good for a quick snake or plunge, but not for a true plumbing need.
Terrible!!!!!!)

I could not be happier and more satisfied with my decision of choosing Bear Plumbing. John and his crew did a phenomenal job repairing and replacing the main water regulator. Leading to the project he gave me real expectations and honest feedback. I appreciate how he discussed the diagnostic and told me what needed to be done. It is truly challenging finding a trustworthy and professional plumber nowadays John and his team proved me otherwise.
The execution of the project was definetly efficient and thorough.
Thank You Bear Plumbing & Rooter for your pursuit of Excellence!!!
