I am actually very surprised that BuildZoom still uses Bella construction. Although their original quote for a water damaged deck and garage seemed fair, Patrick came to us the next day with a change order that was the equivalent of the original quote for the main amount of work. Since I had already accepted his bid and signed the papers, and the work was in progress, I was now a "captive" to his method of collecting money. So I signed. The work was very good. If you ever want to spend $28000 for 4 days of carpentry work that amount to less than 80 man hours of on site work, I think that Patrick can make that happen. He doesn't bill by man hours though, as he will tell you, he bills you using project specifications and secret methods that have been passed down from his family to himself. When you rip people off you can never reveal to them how you arrived at your numbers. It's a very mystical process. I am a former contractor in the State of Calfornia and I know the game. I just never expected to be a victim of it.
I particularly liked how he rebated me $2800 at the end of the work to ease his own conscience for the incredible gouging he perpetrated.
He won't just rip you off personally though. He' ll convince you to tell BuildZoom that your project was only $100 so that he can avoid paying them the appropriate referral fee. So you see, it's merely one crook ripping off another. The fact that he decided to short change both me and Build Zoom speaks volumes about his character and business practices. The fact that they both still do business together in spite of the fact that Patrick lied to them about the cost of my project shows Build Zoom's character and integrity as well. Patrck told them the total cost was only $100 for a $40000 water damage project and they are still saying he gets five stars. Somebody's been bought here, right BuildZoom?. The worst of it is that you, the consumer gets the short end of all this: you trust Build Zoom and then you trust Bella Construction. Remember that BuildZoom is only a referral company with a Database of workers. No more or less. That Bella looked for a method to shortchange the very people that he obtained business from and that they now still tout his services is a great disservice to the consumer, namely you, the person reading this review. Buyer beware. For me this was a very costly lesson not only about money but about human behavior and greed. It is actually a lesson that none of you want to experience within this lifetime. -

I don't understand how this contractor stays in business. They took 2 months to schedule our job. I don't believe they secured the permit and found out later that the work should not start without it. How can anyone depend on them to do the job properly if they don't even get the permit? We experienced multiple water leaks and the work had to be redone twice. We also noticed that some tools near where the technician was working are missing from the shop and my boss blamed me for not watching the person closer.
