I have a large area under my house, maybe 1500 sq ft that gets wet in the really rainy years, and Mr. Bennett said a fan would help with the problem. He first quoted me $500, and later raised it to $600. Now this are is a crawl space that you can stand up and walk under in the tallest areas, and in other areas, it is about 3 feet high, getting higher as you get closer to the tallest area. Crawl space: large crawl space fan is what I was expecting, but he installed a bathroom fan, that he programmed to run at 30% humidity, which meant it ran almost constantly. There was no switch to turn it off. I contacted the manufactured of the fan, and was told it was not warrantied for the crawl space.
I contacted Mr. Bennett and asked him to remove it, with a full refund of my money, as it served no purpose for the issue I had. He did offer to come on a specific date, convenient for him, but I work on an on call basis, so it did not fit my schedule. After that offer, he refused to remove it and to refund the $200 that I paid by check. I was able to get the $400 back that was on a credit card.
When we did talk, his comment about, "now you are an expert" was a common theme that he repeated over and over again, and again. Being a senior citizen and a woman I guess I wasn't suppose to be able to research the unit he installed under my house, and conclude it was not what I needed.
He told the BBB that I got all my money back because $198 was taken out of his account. Well I did not get the money, so he should check what he says before he makes a statement and presents it as a fact.
