Scott Berkau and his father put an addition on my house less than 15 years ago. Prior to that, they built a poolhouse and hardscaped around the pool and house. In between, They did a lot of very expensive ala carte freelance work OVER and over. I regret to say, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING they did had or has to be replaced. The poolhouse collapsed due to faulty design and materials, not using pressre treated or water resistant wood or wallboard. There was an improperly installed foundation, without proper ventilation and just dirt as a subfloor. The wiring around the house was faulty and dangerous and not up to code. The roof was improperly installed and has been completely replaced. The plumbing was poorly done and all of the pipes and connections have needed upgrading and rerouting. And now, we were told, the bathroom floors, showers and tiling were installed so poorly, we have to replace and retile everything due to mold and improper installation of the drains. We have stagnant pools of water UNDER our tile and lots of critters. The pavers around the entire house and pool have collapsed because only sand was used as a base. In short, I would not let Scott Berkau build my doghouse. He has no clue what he is doing, and would give less than 1/2 star if I could.
