Very Bad Experience! We are working on a project on our property and we have asked for help to find a construction company on Build Zoom. Upon contacting one of the companies, Bernard Development Inc., a representative, Eddie, came to our property and discussed the job. They soon sent us the quote as each of the other companies we have contacted had done. Of course, being a big project, we took our time to evaluate all the quotes each company sent as they came to see the job, and we asked more information of each one especially about any of the parts missing in the quotes. We talked with Eddie thru messages and by phone, mostly about information on the work that was not included in the quote. Eddie seemed kind and responsive with all of our questions, however, I have to say, he was very persistent with his calls and texting pushing us to see if we were ready to finalize the contract, even after we told him that we were still having companies to see the job to be done. Of all the contractors we contacted he is the only one that acted this way. He knew that we were considering other contractors so I think this is why he was being aggressive. We asked about the payment procedure because there was no mention of this or if they accept credit card payments or any of the fees associated with the credit card payments, on their quote. After a back and forth, he asked us for 55% up front before even starting the job and then another 25% before the actual completion of the job and the final due at the last inspection. In their quote this was not mentioned at all, as this procedure being laid out so precise for payment we would think they would have mention it before, especially since we were on the verge of choosing them for the work. The Bernard Development Inc. was the only one, of all the contractors we are considering for this work, that requested such a big amount up front and did not mention any warranty for their work and this was not comforting for us. We called Eddie to try to explain that we could not accept this type of payment and we were disappointed these payments were not mentioned in the thorough quote that was sent to us. We told him we would not be interested because we need some sort of warranty for the work to assure us that the work would be done properly and in their quote it was not mentioned anything about the warranty for the job. We told him that if we decided in their favor we could give a 20-30% deposit like the other companies were asking and we needed some sort of warranty for the work being done properly and that for sure we would not even consider 80% up front. In our attempt to explain to Eddie about our doubt he completely neglected any attempt at negotiation and immediately showed rude behavior during the conversation and that they would not warranty to us but instead of reassuring us about the liability of their company and the job, he took to immediate aggressive language and after he said an F word to us he hang-up on us and then , after 10 minutes he sent a message about how they were not interested in working with us, as if, after what happened, we were still interested in working with a company that treats their eventually customers in that way. Everyone be aware when contacting this company, be sure everything is mentioned and do not accept any high up front deposits without any guarantee, it means their cash flow is not sufficient and they are not reliable to finish projects.
