Here’s an overview of my experience and opinion:
If I could do it over, I’d hire a company to complete the same amount of work that was done by this outfit - but for about 40% less cost.
When I was concerned that the originally discussed materials/work didn’t match up to what was being done, I was given vague answers and told additional information would be provided. The additional information was never provided as promised.
I am also wondering why I was asked to give out an extra key when I was always able to give access even upon short notice.
Then this guy wanted the check written out to him personally and not to the business. While I’m writing the check, he informs me that he’d never been so insulted by anyone ever in his whole, entire life. Here’s a guy getting paid in full while he knows that our understanding of the work being delivered didn’t match up, who isn’t willing to budge on anything and he makes this type of comment.
It’s true that I did ask technical and pricing questions while the work was being done – and I always did it in a calm, friendly manner. What’s wrong with that? The work was being done on my property and I was paying the bill. This type of comment just seemed unprofessional. Mostly it seemed ridiculous and whiney.
To top things off, it took me a few hours of cutting and cleaning texture off of window sills, out of the electrical outlets, and scrubbing it off the floor. Nice.
I thought about taking this to small claims court instead of paying it in full. Since it was a smaller job, I decided the money that may have been recouped wouldn’t be worth the continued aggravation of dealing with this company.
