    I've worked with Bertram on four projects in Oakland. He has always been helpful and understating. Dealing with the city trying to get permit was a nightmare and Bert made it seamless. The projects required extensive communication for license and permit with city of Oakland and the State, his understanding of regulation and energy mandate helped speed the process. I highly recommend Bert!

    ADU from the ground up in the backyard

    We visited Bert's ADU construction project in another of town as we were planning to build one in our backyard. The work on our friend's ADU was about 75% complete and we were very impressed. Bert and his brother visited our property and gave us some ideas. Once we firmed up what we were looking for Bert was able to provide some floor plans and design elements that we liked and agreed upon. The ADU went up pretty fast and we were impressed by the quality of the construction and attention to detail. He listened to our ideas and some changes and additions were made easily to the design. Our ADU is beautiful and everyone that sees it loves it. We refer Bert and his team to friends and clients.

    Bathroom remodel, bathroom addition in master bedroom

    We chose Bert for our bathroom remodel in San Francisco in 2014, and he was terrible. Didn’t put in a frame below the upstairs bathtub which caused the living room ceiling to leak, he didn’t brace the bathroom walls before the glass tiling, which caused many of them to crack, and just overall is not a good contractor or honest person. I would not recommend Bert Harris and we actually sued him and won for the overall shoddy job he did on our home.

    After meeting with Bertram to discuss the needs and concepts of the project, he was straight forward and to the point expressing the most effective and efficiant way to get what I needed done. He was able to navigate the permit and planning phase without delay. Plans were drawn and permits pulled within a few weeks of finalizing the design for a full house remodel. This project was in conjunction with "Ygrene"a PACE financing program. There is an extensive amount of correspondence, details and communication needed between owner, contractor, lender and subcontractors at each phase of the project. Bertram was able to handle these smoothly and efficient without disruption to construction schedule. Highly recommend using Bert

    Very thorough and detailed

    I used Bert to help me on a project from the initial purchase process inspection to design build for a second story room addition, and basement addition. He worked with the City Planner, my appraiser and loan officer. There was a lot of detail needed in the paperwork including a line by line estimate with all the details down to the penny.

    The project included a new foundation repair complete and a total of over 1200 additional square feet. He did a great job. If you are looking to do a project that involves the City Planning Permit Process, and or a liaison for your bank or lender, this is the guy.

    Bathroom conversion to laundry
    No show

    Bertram did a walkthrough at my house last fall (2014) a few days after I bought it. I wanted a bathroom converted to a laundry, plus a lot of other small things fixed up. He took notes and snapped pictures, seemed to know what he was talking about, and he promised an estimate within 72 hours. Then I never heard from him again. I called. I emailed. I called and emailed again. If I could give zero stars, I would, because he was no contractor at all for me.
