For the $1400 we paid just for installation, with est. $4,400 we spent in total, this was the worst install we've seen. Jason completed our upstairs with bamboo flooring with a different installer, and it looks great. Though, this install was a very poor quality install of hardwood floors on concrete slab.
Glue was used sparingly, leaving areas of floor sinking in as you walk across. Gaps between pieces are seen throughout, and were identified early, with no change of install process. Loose pieces were "fixed" into position only with quarter round. Stairs were installed, and show nail damage to edges. Stair riser on second stair installed unlevel. Sealing around fireplace is messy.
Jason, owner/contractor, was present for 85% of install. John, contracted installer and his bother-in-law, which we had no prior knowledge of experience, was the initial installer, starting the poor quality install. Glue was not cleaned up after each section, and we have glue residue all over entire floor. During job someone stole about $30 in loose change from a change cup in our closed entertainment center.
While on vacation, there was a "setback" at 10% of install, delaying the job for one week. We never received an explanation of why it was delayed. Install continued, and was delayed again for inconsistent laying of pieces. Pieces were laid across one area with same pattern in two rows. Colors of hardwood were also inconsistent from box to box, but John didn't catch that, and it created a very bad look across floor.
To this day, we have glue over 90% of floor, as we have attempted to clean it. Very labor-intensive. And, we have contacted Jason for follow-up, and no contact has been initiated by him to schedule a time to repair install. He has stated he would complete/repair issues, but he hasn't been on site in 9 weeks.
