I do not recommend 3rd Generation. This has been a very lengthy and aggravating process.
April 26 - Salesman, Ben came out to measure and quote. He told me they would work around my schedule. He spent a lot of time answering my questions.
May 4 - Signed Contract and paid deposit
May 11 - No call, no show for measure appointment. They did not want to work around my schedule. I went out of my way to work around their schedule. I had to take the dog to a relative's house and had a relative come over to let them in to measure. I was very aggravated and told the owner, Mike, I wanted my deposit back since they did not uphold their end of the deal. He refused. He tried to offer me a gift card to make amends, but this was not a resolution and I declined.
May 12 - The owner Mike, Dave the installer and Ben came out to measure and apologize. Mike and Dave had not read the contract and were not familiar with the job. They thought they were measuring for casement windows, and I ordered a double hung. Also, they talked about RWD trim when I had chosen cove molding. Cove molding is more expensive and takes longer so they wanted to avoid it.
June 14 - Ben came over to bring a sample of RWD and discuss trim. This was helpful in making the decision on trim.
May 22 - Installation day finally arrived. Once again, they would not work around my schedule. I had to take the dog to a relative's house and have a relative come to my house. Windows install, lots of problems and several manufacturing defects from Provia. There was extensive damage to the plaster around the windows which required repair and painting before they could finish the trim inside. The installer was wearing a tool belt and ruined the paint around the upstairs windows when leaning outside for the install. They have not taken responsibility for this. Several issues with the weather stripping and holes in screens. These had to be fixed by the manufacturer. Also, there was glue all over the glass that would not come off with glass cleaner.
May 23 - The installation crew came out with paint thinner and a metal scraper to clean the glue off the windows.
Aug 2 - Provia had lost my order, and it took them two weeks to locate it at a different facility. Provia came out for warranty repairs. Once again, they did not work around my schedule, and I had to take the dog to a relative's house and have a relative come over. They repaired the warranty issues and recommended the installer put shims in the front window.
I had called Ben two weeks before to try to get on the schedule so they could finish the inside trim work. Called Ben daily to try to schedule them to finish the install and Dave was dragging his feet. Finally, Ben called me with a date and time which was once again during my workday, and I had to make accommodations.
Aug 22 - Came to finally finish the project and got caulk on the carpet. Caulk was sloppy and they were rushing to get finished since the project has taken so long. Also, Dave did not feel it was necessary to shim the front windows as recommended by the manufacturer. As of today, they have still not cleaned the rug or fixed the wall upstairs.
