    Concrete Pool deck
    $18,000

We hired a local Pool Builder to install a Fiberglass in-ground pool summer of 2022, who strongly recommended the concrete work to be done by Eric Lindstrom of Big Foot Concrete. They said it's who they use and that he was good, so we didn't question it. We now regret this decision and should have done our homework.

Eric was hired to move a yard drain sewer line and professionally install a concrete pool deck. Original quote was $12,100. Subpar plumbing materials were used, property was damaged, an existing (1 yr. old) patio had to be torn out and replaced because the pool company didn't place the pool low enough causing major elevation issues, which we got stuck paying for as nobody would take responsibility. The end result of all work reflects poor craftsmanship and presents physical danger. After adding the replacement of an existing patio, the total approached $17,882.

The resulting 20 yards of concrete walkway, patio and pool deck look terrible, with surface flaws and large cracks due to Eric not making any expansion joints for 3 days during mid-July, missing finishes, a shoddy attempt to cover imperfections with saw cuts, caulk, hydraulic cement, and stain suspended in sealer that will peel and flake off. The worst is the rough and sharp rock face edge we’ve asked to have smoothed down multiple times. We addressed this issue within the first week because we had children getting hurt. He claims the concrete is bad. Claimed he would fix the cracks and pool coping, but just always had an excuse and no-showed many times.

After multiple consults with other concrete professionals telling us he did a horrible job, we need an overlay to fix his mistakes-cheapest way to fix it. We are seeking $10,000 in reimbursement to help pay for a real professional to install an overlay. We have been quoted between $15,000-$25,000 for this work that should not need to be done on a brand new patio/pool deck. This has been a horrible experience!
