In 2016 I contracted with Eric Bimber to do some work on my home. Eric is a charming individual who is always communicating with a smile and willing to offer his advice. He is somebody you would like to hang out with on a Friday night however this review is focused on his quality of work as a general contractor. We had laid out a plan for what was to be completed and he assured me he was able to complete the work with the upmost quality. He even provide stories that described the "faith" others had in his level of work. Much to my dismay he was not able to back up his words with action. He did complete the work in my house however most of it is sub par. Paint is not sticking to walls because the new dry wall was not primed correctly, fit and finish of trim is not correctly lined up and shows the work of an amateur and carpet seams reveal shoddy work not including kids hurting their feet because of exposed tack strips. and low attention to detail as they are not correctly adhering to the floor. These are just 3 examples of the poor work that Eric did in my house. I can provide 7 other examples of work that discloses his lack of qualified experience and immaturity in the area of general contracting for home remodeling. After these items were brought to his attention he was invited back into our home to fix these items and unfortunately I have to report that only a few items were fixed correctly and very little has stood up to the test of every day home life. When I discussed these 10 items of conern I was told repeatedly by him how he "lost" money on this project as if to state this as an excuse for shoddy work. Yet when confronted with this logic by myself and a Master Builder, he denied ownership of any low quality work. I don't think Eric is out to do anybody harm intentionally, but my wife disagrees with me. He just does not understand how to do quality home remodeling work and is not willing to admit that to himself. You can make your own conclusions about my experience but I would go as far to say that at times he was unwilling to admit or unwilling see the truth when confronted with pictures of his poor quality work. Ultimately Eric is a builder that can be asked to complete basic tasks that don't require attention to detail or skillful craftsmanship and he doesn't exhibit pride in his work and in my experience his customers are the ones who suffer. This is what happens when a contractor is just trying to complete his jobs as quickly as possible so he can pocket the cash and move on to the next one.
If you can negotiate with Eric for his work at a very low price it may be worth your efforts especially if you are not concerned about quality craftsmanship or esthetics. If you are concerned about these things please heed my warning and look elsewhere. We have had to pay more money to fix his mistakes and his contractors insurance does not cover anything to fix the mistakes that he has made. If I was able to do this over again I would have asked for a list of people he worked for in the past and called them for an unbiased review, perhaps I would have been more attune to the warning signs that I missed. This was my first remodel and I have learned my lesson and I hope you can learn from the mistake I made when I hired Eric as a contractor to remodel my home.
