Permits
- Building permit records show that Birchfield Heating & Air Conditioning has worked on 3085 permitted projects.
We had this company install an AC unit in a brand-new construction home in 2015 and our unit has had nothing but issues since. As they were installing the unit, I overheard the company owner mention something about the wiring being funky to one of his workers, but thought it would be good enough for this job. They finished the install, handed us a receipt and went on their way. The system they installed is way under power for the size of the house, so keep that mind, but we would only learn of this as we faced hotter temperatures. They are the same company that installed the entire HVAC system for all the builds in the neighborhood. We figured since the builder used them for HVAC, we would use them as well for A/C upgrade. Wish we hadn't. We would later find that many others in this subdivision have had similar issues with their units.
Issue #1-Day after install I had to call them to return as they didn't properly vent the drain line that runs from the furnace in the attic into the drain in the laundry room so it was making loud gurgling noises due to water being trapped in the line.
Issue #2-Three months in we had to have them return because AC was not properly blowing upstairs; turns out they left balancing duct to upstairs completely closed.
Issue #3- Four years in water started leaking from my ceiling where HVAC is installed, called another HVAC company to come out, they found the drain line this company installed 4 years ago was full of bark and debris.
Issue #4- Five years in our A/C unit outside starts making loud grinding noises then shuts down abruptly. We called them to ask if it's still under warranty, come to find out they didn't register it at all like most HVAC companies do for products they install. At the very least they would notify you that you need to do so, but not this company. We were just handed a receipt with none of that information on it. We just now learned that the compressor went out after contacting another HVAC company to come out and assess the issue. This should not happen in 5 years of use. Based on the other HVAC company this could be due to a poor install and/or not properly flushing out the refrigerant lines or underfilling the refrigerant. Now the manufacturer refuses to honor the 10 year compressor warranty since it was never registered and will most likely it will cost us thousands out of pocket on top of the over $4000.00 they charged to install it. Keep in mind we are in the grips of a pandemic and manufactures are in short supply of everything so it may be months before this gets fixed.
All these issues listed have cost us for each visit and it has added up.
The choice is yours of course but I would NOT consider using them for HVAC service or install at all. They have cost us more than it's worth, so in my opinion I would consider taking your business elsewhere.
