Probably the worst contractor you could hire for your job has little to no knowledge on any of the things he claims he can do he will take your money and not show up then when he does he works for maybe an hour then has an excuse why he has to leave or why he can’t show up then he will quit and leave you with an unfinished half ass job that you paid for

DO NOT RECOMMEND I have reported him and his “Veteran” owned business to Dept. of Public Licensing (DOPL), and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). In addition, if I do not receive money owed, which he agreed in writing to refund to me by 21 AUG I will be filing in Small Claims Court. BEWARE: Steven does not communicate; he admittedly said in a text to me that he leaves his voicemail full “on purpose” because he is busy. Definitely disheartened that a Veteran, if in fact he is a Veteran, would take money for work not started/completed, and refuse to communicate that he is in fact following through to refund money owed. I call total bullshit on his “business”. I intend to do my best to ensure DOPL and BBB sees it that way as well.
He does attend Home Shows, which is how I found him. I inquired with the home show(s) and unfortunately there are no protocols to vet him - keep him from marketing his business at these shows. Steven, I am NOT A HAPPY HOMEOWNER. ? -
By Melanie W.July 18, 2022Remove existing deck and build new one using Trax$8,000
BEWARE! Do not use this "company" to do any work for you. I hired Steve to take down a deck and rebuild one using Trax. He didn't show up on the scheduled date. I had to text him numerous times before ANYONE showed up to do any work. A job that I was told would take 2-3 days took 3 WEEKS. He was rude, tried to get me to pay him an extra $900 for materials because his manager "misquoted me in the contract" and then was very belligerent and threatening. He did very crappy work and the guys who came to work left trash all over my backyard. DO NOT USE THIS "COMPANY". You will have regrets.

I've worked with Steven at Bjorkman Construction at some of our home shows in Utah. Steven is always professional, organized and detail orientated! I've had several home owners tell me that they have worked with Steven and that they have been very happy with the work he has done on their homes. They have also told me that they will contact him again for future projects that arise for their homes, as will I.

BEWARE....Don't make the mistake I did and hire Steven....I wish I could wake up from the nightmare of working with this company. I purchased a home knowing that there was work to be done…..I contracted in April with Steven Bjorkman Construction LLC, the job was supposed to be completed in June of 2021 per the original agreement. It’s now November of 2021, I have paid him $12,565 none of the jobs have been completed. There is about $2200 owed for the final contract, but at least $6500 in work still to be done based on the estimates from multiple other reputable contractors . As a general contractor, he promised to help with internal kitchen cabinetry help in a 5 day timeline. Three weeks later, the sub he hired walked off the job, over charged, and threatened myself, my family, and tried to get me fired from my job. At the same time the interior was underway, he also started the exterior and landscaping job. The company was to move gravel, install sprinklers, and sod. When the company was unable to complete the job by June as promised, I deferred to the fall as there was a drought and watering restrictions, and I didn’t want my yard to die. He promised that the scope of work would be completed by Fall. As of November 19th, the work is still undone and he basically told me that he would give me a $500 refund not to deal with the "headache" of completing my job. Because I still don't have sod, my dog is tracking mud and destroying my furniture and home. I have an incomplete sprinkler system that was done in such a way that it cannot be winterized, no sod, and a inoperable fence. I had another landscaping come out to at least try to winterize the sprinklers and mitigate my damages. The system is so poorly constructed that it couldn’t be winterized. In our last phone conversation, he was yelling at me and had the audacity to tell me that "I needed to be patient and give him until March to complete the scope of work." I have been completely taken advantage of ….. He has no showed me more times than he showed up.

I had Steven bid a remodel for a flip I was working on in Clearfield. He 1st quoted me just over $24,000 to complete the work and guaranteed a completion in 8 weeks. He initially said he needed 4 equal payments but after agreeing to working with him he asked for $10,000 so he could sub much of the work out to stay on time with the job/bid. He slowly began having subs do work on the home. Within a week he asked for almost another $10,000 for materials and corrections to his initial bid. He said things needed to be done, that in fact did not. He said he needed funds to pay one of the tile subs (whom can confirm he was never paid a dime by Steven despite Steven collecting the full amount for this subs job.) He was very slow going and at times minor progress was made, but almost none by him. I found out that some of the subs he hired weren't properly licensed in the way he hired them to do work. That they said the bill was one thing but wouldn't do the scope that Steven billed me for. He hired a contractor to start my deck, to which they framed unsatisfactory for the City, which the city told him was the case, he also did the incorrect shape and size and was told this by an HVAC contractor I hired who was on site when he had this person do the deck. They placed the stairs on the completely wrong side and orientation and didn't lay the trex material to the design I requested, they also didn't use the proper materials to ensure my trex warranty would be in place. When confronted Steven said either the sub didn't listen to him or didn't care about what he was told to do. It became very clear that Steven was not properly over seeing the work and that he was misappropriating my funds. To date he has collected several thousand above what he initially bid, and he abandoned the job at about 15% further along than when I hired him. He stated that in his experience when a client is unhappy he should walk away- apparently this means with my funds. He also has a home depot gift card of mine which he refuses to return to me, approximately $1500 in value. He bought materials I didn't approve and wouldn't return them to me or the funds for them. The work he and his subs did was incredibly sub par. I have photos to provide as well. At this time he is being investigated by DOPL for his actions (lack there of), job abandonment and with the police department for grand larceny and theft. He to this date still hadn't provided me with an accounting of any sort, since his abandonment back in February on the 23rd. He said his accountant needed time, originally about 2 weeks, then days, then back to a longer period of time. Basically, Steven is a thief, who is very good at communicating and manipulating subs to do sub par work. He is scamming the community and he continues to attempt to daily. Stay away if you want quality work, that equals the sum you are quoted and doesn't leave you with very expensive remedies on your own.

Steven Bjorkman replaced my old, battered deck with a new one for a reasonable price. The new deck requires no maintenance, which is great because my husband and I are getting on in years and don't have the stamina to sand and repaint every couple of years. Based on his design ideas with a little input from me the new deck visually increases the size our the yard, provides a place for decorative plants, and offers a shady space underneath for storage and/or shady space for our dog. We also hired him to install vinyl gates in backyard. However, because a violent windstorm in September 2020 blew hundreds of vinyl gates off their hinges, vinyl gates were sold out everywhere. Because we were worried about our dog's safety in the backyard without the gates, he built and installed temporary wooden gates until vinyl gates were available once more. Months later, vinyl gates are still hard to find, so he has offered to construct them for us, using vinyl fencing sections so our job can be complete. Despite this setback, which was beyond his control, he has responded to all our queries regarding the gates and remained in touch.

By J L.April 5, 2021Finishing a basement$20,000
I would NOT recommend Bjorkman Construction or Steven Bjorkman. His work is terrible. He stole $20,000 from us. He told us we paid for job completion not satisfaction. My 10 year old could have done better. He claimed he could do insulation, drywall, paint, texture, tile and shiplap. It was all terrible and needs to now be redone

DO NOT HIRE!!!! He stole our money.
He was impossible to get a hold of and never showed up on the days we agreed upon. Without doing a single day of work he stole our deposit and completely blocked me from contacting him. I have contacted the local police department and filed a complaint against him with the State licensing office. Next step will be to file small claims. WHAT A HORRIBLE PERSON!
