After watching Black River Home Services (BRHS) paint my neighbor’s home, there was no doubt in my mind about who we should hire. The quality of the workmanship and attention
to detail continues to impress. BRHS recently completed exterior painting of our two-story home in Jamaica Plain. We were pleasantly surprised that our high expectations were exceeded at every turn.
Vilson and Amy were consistently a pleasure to interact with - forthright, responsive, always respectful, and approachable in response to any of our questions. Once the work commenced, we felt like our house was their singular priority -- only weather affected the schedule. Their estimate of how long the project would take was right on target. The crew expertly worked 10-hour days throughout the project….seemingly without any breaks! All trash was removed daily and I even saw them vacuuming the driveway one day!
Before the painting began, the preparation went above and beyond what can be reasonably expected -- aside from thoroughly scraping and sanding old and loose paint, myriad issues were addressed including: replacement of deteriorated or missing shingles, replacement of rotted trim, replacement of glass in cracked windowpanes, spraying wasps (!!), and repairing crumbled window glazing. Vilson even helped me take the garbage cans inside a couple times. Although our 118-year-old house seemed to present new challenges weekly, only substantive items required discussion about changes to the project scope. Communication throughout the project was always clear, timely, and with our budget in mind. The painting process itself was methodical and detailed. In addition to the painting, BRHS ensured that our house looked its best by also oiling our mahogany porches and balcony and painting out mailbox and house number. Top shelf materials were used exclusively – and at a very reasonable cost. The quality job makes our house look new and will surely benefit us for years to come. We could not be more satisfied.
