    Bathroom/ living room remodel
    90 days
    High-end, professional, reasonably priced contractor

I couldn't be happier with Blackstone Restoration's work in my home, they completed the highest-end custom improvements to my water-damaged condo in a timely manner. They completely stripped my master bathroom and two adjacent smaller bedrooms down to the bare walls. Then they installed a heated floor with travertine tiles and 9' x 4' steam shower with three shower heads and three body sprays, with travertine tile and streak resistant shower glass as well. I have yet to see a shower in any level of home or even on the Houzz website that I would be as happy with as this one.
As for the smaller bedrooms, Blackstone removed the wall separating the two bedrooms and developed one large recreation room complete with a wet bar, wine bar, Brazilian cherry wall with built in flat screen tv, large floor to ceiling book shelves and a built in fireplace. The also built in candle nooks in the wine bar wall which gives it a wine cavern type of feel. I'm so happy with their work and design, I wish I could download photos of their finished product.
I can't emphasize enough Blackstone's professionalism and the high end quality of work for a fraction of the cost of many other high end contractors. I have been told by several other contractors that the work completed by Blackstone in my modest Chicago condo rivals and surpasses anything they've seen in multi-million dollar North Shore or Gold Coast/Streeterville homes. I have recommended Blackstone to any of my friends and clients who have needed renovations in the past and I have yet to hear any complaints whatsoever regarding their work. Going forward I will never let any other contractor aside from Blackstone Restoration Group touch my home.

    Gut/Renovation
    200 days

Excellent experience with Blackstone. Lou executed a complete gut/renovation of our 3000 sqft. home in the Western Suburbs. From consultation, permit application, demolition, material consultation and sub-contractor scheduling, we were able to focus on our family and upcoming move rather than the day-to-day events of our renovation. We were able to move in within 5 months and total project was completed in 7 months. Pleased with the fit and finish of all work. As we enjoy our home and entertain with family and friends, we receive lots of praise for the level of work and the attention to the detail - in addition to the overall design! We will begin our basement renovation with Blackstone soon…we not only trust Lou's opinion and insight, but his level of care when scheduling it all! We highly recommend if you want a thorough and attention-focused contractor and project manager. NT

    Bathroom Water Damage / Remodel
    21 days
    Blackstone Restoration Group, Inc.

Hired Blackstone Restoration to perform a water damaged bathroom. I have had nothing but the best communication with them for several projects. As for their workmanship, I have no complaints. I can honestly say that the work that they have done for me left me completely satisfied. The tile work was extremely well done, they worked with me on the color I wanted for the tiles and paint for the walls. The vanity had to be replaced and they suggested a beautiful black vanity with an attached side shelf, has a nice size sink and faucet to enhance the vanity. I was extremely excited about how my bathroom looked when they were done. The next project I needed them for was a Kitchen for one of my tenants. I was in awe of how beautiful it was when it was done. Lou has very good taste in the area of cabinets, vanity, tile, floor (the floor in his office are gorgeous) and for sure with color theme for my walls. Michael is always pleasant and has always been on call when I had question. Very dedicated to his job and pleasing the customer from my experience. I would most definitely recommend them (and have) and will used them again if the need arises.

    $140k
    1 day
    poor workmanship

Project took 5 months longer than scheduled. Most days I had to call them to see if they were ever coming back to finish. They took liberties with repairs not agreed upon by the owner. And sales sup. Mike and Lou lied thru out the entire project. Had to end up paying extra due to the promises not kept by these company reps. Bathroom tiles were noticeably crooked, kitchen cabinet replacements were kept to the minimum. Dishwasher was not replaced. I was told both mike and lou that the CA units they replaced were new when in fact their own electricians said not to use the air on the first floor because the filters were dirty. Instead they installed used CA units. Paint job was sloppy on replaced drywall. Overall, a long drug out project that would not have been done by this company had I gotten to do it over again. The reps constant lying and just having to keep calling them when weeks were going by and no work getting done. They also have a group that does the gutting that took it upon themselves to walk off with my possessions. Neighbors all attest to seeing these workers load up their personal trucks daily. I'm not happy with this company whatsoever. BH.

Response from Blackstone Restoration Group Inc October 9, 2015
Fire loss project - client neglected mention following facts: Previous insurance provider was not paid and the mortgage company placed a lender forced policy on the property. A "lender's forced policy" is generally a bare bones structure policy with no contents coverage for personal belongings and most importantly does not cover code upgrades that the city may require for building violations. This structure was approx. 100 years old with all bx electrical wiring which is NOT code, throughout. Therefore, Blackstone updated all electrical to code, ran new HVAC duct work to code to attic, removed all of this particular clients belongings that amounted to several decades of safekeepings to either debris or to basement storage per his direction, without any compensation to Blackstone nor did Blackstone not charge client for the additional unpaid for efforts. As for the neighbors claims, Blackstone Restoration was retained by this clients next door neighbor (an Illinois Police Officer), to the North of the subject property, to repair his property due to the communicated damage his structure experienced. He was completed and was satisfied with the work performed. The subject property's owner, sold the property at the time of completion for a considerable amount of additional money, than if the work was not completed. The new owners of the property a returning U.S. veteran, requested our name and number so Blackstone Restoration could complete some additional work on the property. We have extended our 5 year warranty to any issues that may arise to the new owner and wish the previous owner all the best.
