    Kitchen Remodel project

We had a flood near the end of January (tubing from an undersink water filter came loose), ruining the bottom cabinets in our kitchen and damaging four other rooms. We were also anxious to get the repair work done within two months because of a previous commitment to provide lodging in our home to two people. Thump'r of Blue Collar Builders came out to look and took interest in our plight. He had a short window to help (another job was put on hold, because of delays not related to Blue Collar Builders) but pledged to the get the job done on time. It was not easy -- a 70-year-old set of cabinets, poorly designed, had to be redesigned and built from scratch. At our request, the crew managed to save our previous doors and drawers from a refacing project seven years ago. But it all worked out, on time, thanks to the creativity and flexibility of the BCB crew. Five stars.

    bathroom remodeling project

We are very happy with Blue Collar Builders for our project.
The project included remodeling part of the master bathroom (completely new shower, keep the same jacuzzi, new wall and floor tile, and change shower and jacuzzi hardware).
We interviewed many contractors and get estimate from ~7-9 contractors. The estimate we got from Thumper (the owner), was in the middle range.
However, we liked his attitude, the obvious knowledge and the detailed proposal.

We hired him and never had any regrets. It was headache free project, very organized, on-time and beautifully implemented. His team (Chris, Carlos & Jason) are very nice and very friendly people who gave me many suggestion, and I feel complete trust in their implementation. At the end the bathroom looks gorgeous. Highly recommend.

    Backyard Deck and Gazebo

I contracted Blue Collar Builders through BuildZoom mid 2015. Blue Collar Builders was one of five contractors I interviewed and requested bids from for a backyard project that entailed replacement of a redwood porch deck and a redwood gazebo as well as a stone path connecting the two. I selected Blue Collar Builders primarily because Thump'r listened carefully to my plans and my requirements but also suggested options that would make the project more appealing in years ahead. Their quotation was not the cheapest but was not out of line compared to others either.

I am happy that I selected Blue Collar Builders for this project. Their workmanship is excellent, detailed, and of the highest quality. The new structures will likely outlast my house. They recommend and use the best materials that the project budget will allow. I have received many compliments from friends and family on the high quality of the structures.

I didn't give them a 5-star "Highly Recommended" rating because the 2 month project turned into a 3.5 month project due to them having insufficient staffing due to conflicting project schedules. This meant I couldn't use the new structures for late summer gatherings as originally planned. The project was also ~30% over the original budget. However most of that was due to normal project quoting adjustments as well as agreed-upon mid-project scope changes.

I do recommend Blue Collar Builders if you have a home project that demands high quality. However I also recommend up front due diligence when agreeing upon a price and schedule.

Received a call and spoke to Thumper? Odd nickname. He was nice but job location is too far and the job is too small. He recommended I find a local contractor to do the work.

    Best Contractor Ever

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Blue Collar Builders. My wife and I were looking to have our garage renovated earlier this year and we found Blue Collar Builders on buildzoom.com. Very professional and skilled at what they do. We were so happy with the progress and final results of our “new” garage.

Blue Collar Builders did a complete renovation of our garage, and I do mean complete.
They reinforced the ceiling and added drop down ladder access to the attic for storage, insulated all the walls and ceiling, put up drywall with a nice smooth finish and did numerous electrical, plumbing and gas line improvements. They even discovered and fixed a few unsafe (and I mean very unsafe) “improvements” the previous homeowners had done on their own. I’ve never encountered a contractor who was so willing to go the extra mile for his clients.

If you’re looking for a contractor with integrity, professionalism, genuine skill, the flexibility to work with the clients’ needs and clean up after the end of each day, I would look no further than Thump’r and team.

I should add that during the garage remodel job my wife was pregnant with my first child. We also have three indoor cats that are always looking for a way to get outside. The men made every effort to make sure our cats didn’t escape, worked their schedule around ours and made sure the house and garage was left clean at the end of each day’s work. I can’t begin to tell you how important this was to us.

We were so impressed with Thump’r and Joe’s work, we had them come back in June to take a look at some plumbing problems in both bathrooms, again from “improvements” made by the previous owners. They were able to repair the valves and install new fixtures and re-plumb parts of the bathroom in minimal time.

We can’t thank Thump’r and Joe at Blue Collar Builders enough for all they’ve done and we know who we’ll call the next time we need a contractor. Beautiful work guys.

tilebalcony project, patch and texture on drywall, other misc projects

I contacted BuildZoom a couple months ago for help with a bath remodel. Several contractors contacted me and Blue-Collar (Thump'r) was one of them. I called Thump'r back and spoke about the job that I wanted done. I really felt very comfortable talking to him and made an appointment for him to come to my home. We discussed several projects that I want to have done. He has completed the tile project on my balcony and it is so beautiful! He did an excellent job! My plants, bistro set and bbq grill look so good out there! I had kitchen countertops installed in my kitchen (prior to Thump'r - really wish I had known him then!) and they left my wall a mess. Thump'r said he could fix that along with some other minor things around the house! He has done a fabulous job and I am keeping him around for my bath remodel at the end of the year! He and his crew are very personable and warm! They are hard workers and do a fantastic job! I am definitely going to refer him to my friends and neighbors! They are already asking me for his contact info! One more thing - last Saturday evening one of my shelves in my master walk in closet fell with all my clothes and shoes tumbling out on the floor! I didn't know what to do. I took a chance and called Thump'r early Sunday morning and left a message telling him what happened. He called me back later that morning and took time out of his Sunday morning to come by and fix my closet so I could get my clothes off my bed and hung back in the closet! Wow!! I am very impressed for the level of service that he has and is providing me! Who you gonna call? Thump'r!!.

    A very satisfied customer!
