CHECK SC BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU COMPLAINTS OF THIS COMPANY. I HOPE I CAN UPDATE THIS REVIEW WITH GOOD NEWS IF THEIR BREACH OF CONTRACT ISSUES ARE RESOLVED.
Last year my wife and I purchased a small one-story modular cabin from Blue Ridge Log Cains with a $5000 cash deposit followed by a 20% down payment. The remaining 80% of the purchase to be paid by cashier's check upon the delivery of the completed cabin. We had been promised by the salesperson and the company's literature that the cabin would be completely finished in their factory and delivered including windows, doors, light fixtures and ceiling fans, toilets and sinks, kitchen appliances, trim, flooring, and granite countertops. All we would have to do, we were told, is prepare the foundation, have our contractor hook up the utilities, install a clothes washer and dryer, and enjoy a completed cabin without the hassle of scheduling all the different components of the home. Their website states, "No waiting, no agonizing over delays, no scheduling problems with contractors. That’s our promise to you."
Then, on May 19, we received delivery of the cabin. It was a wet day, so the two sections were left wrapped in their white plastic on the foundation with the roofs down for the marriage wall to be installed later when the weather was dry. I handed the construction manager, D**** B****** our cashier's check for the remaining balance of the cabin, and he and his crew left with the promise to return as soon as the weather allowed to complete the job.
Later that evening I let myself into the cabin under the plastic to discover that it was entirely incomplete. There was no flooring, no appliances, no countertops, no windows, no interior doors, no trim, no toilets, no sinks. All the cabin contained was walls, cabinets, light fixtures, and ceiling fans. The back door was a hole covered with plywood sheets, and the front door was temporary.
Alarmed and disappointed, I immediately called D**** B****** back with our concerns about the empty cabin. He assured us that his crews would return to finish the remaining work, and that there were supply line issues. As I write this letter, 37 days have passed since the cabin's delivery. In those five weeks a small crew has arrived at the cabin to work only sporadically, often showing up on a Friday to do a partial job, then not returning again until late the next week to continue. In that time very little has been done by BRLC to make our cabin complete with a small crew coming either one, two, or no days per week to work.
WHAT STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE:
1. Exterior trim and siding needs to be completed so that we can stain and seal to protect the wood from the weather
2. Permanent exterior front door needs to replace the current temporary door
3. Permanent exterior back door need to be hung and installed to replace the plywood covering the door opening.
4. Interior trim needs to be completed so we can stain and seal
5. Toilets and sinks need to be installed
6. Granite countertops need to be delivered and installed
7. Kitchen appliances and hot water heater need to be installed
8. The marriage wall was not covered and sealed in the front of the house. There is an opening by the front door running down the height of the building where the plastic and plywood are exposed. My many attempts to contact the construction director, D**** B*****, via email, text, and voice calls to move the project along to have been met with only occasional replies, often of the nature "I'll check on that and get back to you." I have resorted to contacting other members of the business, including vice president of sales, chief financial officer, and the owner of the company. I have had mixed success, including no response to my in-depth email to the owner.
At this point I consider this a breach of contract, since the specification sheet for the delivered house which we already paid for in full includes all the missing details in the list above. I am paying for a construction loan which was structured to be very short-term, but I'm watching a very incomplete cabin sit idle for days or a week at a time with no indication of progress to finish it. Our contractor has had to move his subcontractors' schedules around multiple times due to waiting for Blue Ridge Log Cabins to move forward with a part of a job. I offered in an email to the company's owner to have my contractor arrange to finish the incomplete parts of this project in return for BRLC paying for that portion of the work, but I received no reply to that offer, or any other part of my email expressing my general dissatisfaction and displeasure with the nature of the customer service since Blue Ridge received their full payment.
What should have been a completed log cabin delivered could have been a quick servicing completion, but is now stretching into the second month.

It is a ripoff. Do not put any money down with these people because you will lose it. Do not sign any contract with them. People have lots countless amounts of money. Everything is an add-on. If you get tempted to sign a contract with them, go to a lawyer first, and they will explain what you are signing up for. Going to a lawyer when you need to get a lawyer to get your money back is not going to work unless you have tons of money. We complained to the BBB and why they don't drop their rating is a total mystery. They need to do their own undercover work on this company. We lost $10,000 and the lawyer we went to in Spartanburg told us of a couple that came to her that lost $40,000. Don't sign any contract and don't go with this company.

Ripoff Alert! They take your money and promise quality craftsmanship in an 8 to 12 week timeline. Our cabin was placed on our property 7 months ago! It has been without doors or windows exposed to the elements all this time! Weeks go by without anyone working on it. Can't get materials for the workers to complete their jobs. No one returns phone calls. Poor customer service. Don't make the mistake we did. Fine someone else to build your cabin!

Signed a contract a year and a half ago to save the price and wait until we qualified for the credit. was assured by representative we could get our money back if we didn't qualify. After over a year we had family emergency that took some of our savings. Our scores have never rose to qualification. Requested refund of 15k deposit like we were told we could. Very difficult to communicate wth them. They keep putting us off because of their "processes". Then finally offered 4500.00 after they wanted to charge us for engineering, customization, etc... We were going to build a stock plan with no changes. Do NOT give them your money. Read the BBB complaints, of which I am one. Even if it is in the contract, you will have the same problems. If the bank turns you down, you will lose most if not all of your money.

Exactly the same story. Dropped a cabin she'll when I was promised a complete cabin. I'm paying a mortgage on an uninhabitable shell. No windows, no flooring, no cabinets, no appliances, water damage from sitting out. They lie to you and promise it will only be a few weeks, well I need to know how long to sign a lease for a place to live, while I'm paying that mortgage on an uninhabitable shell.
