Blues Brothers Construction Inc

We are a full service home remodeling team. This includes: Interior remodeling, kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, general contracting, garage conversions, and room additions.

65 years ago, our grandfather decided to buy a plot of land so he can build a home for his family. He worked hard in the construction business, saving up to turn his dream into reality. Grandpa was always great with his hands and his tools were his best friends. Whenever we were around him, he would always teach us about the little details, which wood is stronger, what tools yields the best angles, all things we didn't fully appreciate as children.

Turns out, we unknowingly grew up into pretty handy adults. Some of us went to school to be architects, some of us ended up working on high-rise condo buildings. At the end of the day, we united our forces to start a family business in home remodeling and bring you Blue Brothers Construction.

From the Owner:
In addition to the 3 generation worth of family business
In the construction industry, my experience includes civil engineering, wedding planning, and upper retail management.

I bring plenty of experience in customer service which makes me pretty big on communication as I believe being available to talk, discuss and consult things before/during/after the project is crucial for customer satisfaction.

I'm very approachable and always provide solutions to my clients to every question or concern that may arise which I know gives great relief and comfort to many of my clients.

Remodeling your home can be very exciting, especially with the right partners. I hope you consider Blues Brothers Construction on your next project. Give me a call and I can assist with your needs!

Electrical (upgrade panel and wiring, install EV charger); replace plumbing & sewer lines; fix found
    $175,000

I hired Onn and Blues Brothers Construction bc he seemed approachable, thorough, and detail-oriented. My husband and I had just bought our first house and it needed electrical, plumbing, and foundation work. we decided to also renovate a bathroom, and planned to convert our garage to an ADU once the first set of work was complete.

Unfortunately as soon as we signed a contract Onn went MIA, and all communication was through Renee, the office manager. I rarely was able to talk directly with anyone who actually knew the project or the work being done. It often took a week or longer to get answers to my questions, if they were acknowledged at all.

Onn said he would fix my foundation issue, then took 3 months to get me a quote which was 10x what a competitor quoted, and then he finally told me he didn't want to do the work anyway and I should find someone else.

I paid him to make up blueprints for the ADU conversion. They were supposed to be finished in 5-6 weeks, but 3 months later I couldn't get answers about progress. I finally told Onn to forget the blueprints and asked for a refund, He verbally agreed on the phone.

Several mistakes were made that caused delays, including not properly flashing the plumbing vent pipes on the roof which left holes for water to come in and resulted in a huge mold issue inside the walls. Over the next 4 weeks I was told 4 times that the mold was taken care of, only to find more mold in the walls. I finally hired an outside mold remediation expert who followed actual protocol (sealed the area, brought in a dehumidifier, etc) and took care of everything in 5 days.

Much of the finish work was sloppy or steps skipped (the EV charger they installed wasn't plugged into the electrical panel when we tried to use it). Once our project finished, it took another 3 months to settle final payment and paperwork bc Onn kept agreeing to terms then arguing back about them, and tried to get us to 1. waive our warranties, and 2. sign a non-disparagement clause (so we wouldn't be allowed to leave a bad review).

Longer review with more detail is on Yelp. Needless to say, we opted not to do the ADU conversion with Blues Brothers and found a different contractor for that project.

    Bathroom remodel
    $35,000

It was a pleasure working with Blues Brothers Construction, and specifically our project manager Alexandra. The demo, construction and finishing work turned out wonderful and Alexandra was there during every step of the way offering her guidance and expertise. We couldn't be happier with our new bathroom and I would highly recommend them for your next home remodel!

    Kitchen remodel
    $73,000

After many years and driven by spending so much time at home due to the pandemic, I decided it was time for a complete remodel of my kitchen. I contacted several potential contractors and had them submit bids. Of the 5 contractors who responded, Mika Aloni was the most diligent and responsive. She was not only the person who came to my house to survey the kitchen and submit the bid, she was also the project manager. I must congratulate her on a job well done! I could not have been more pleased. She always had my back from the beginning through the end no matter what problem we encountered. She always came up with the right solution. I highly recommend her.

Where do I start, oh I know ( THE NAME!!! it says it all) ..... we signed the contract on 7/1/2020 for a full kitchen remodel and minor home updates (base boards and tile in one bathroom). We chose Blues Brothers after interviewing multiple GC's and reading the reviews ( which now i know half are bogus).

Right after signing the contract, i found out i had to move out of state and i have until the end of October to move and sell my house. We were quoted 45 days for completion, and that sat well with my timeline. Onn (the GC, who come to find out knows nothing about construction) said we have to pay for ALL THE FINISH MATERIALS up front before scheduling the demo date so they have a solid schedule to work on and finish on time.. Okay fine...... issue 1- they did not give us a detailed invoice and said " the system doesn't allow that because it’s a package deal". We pushed for a written breakdown. issue 2- NONE OF THE MATERIAL WAS ORDERED BEFORE DEMO!!!!! in early august we were told the cabinets we ordered are back ordered until end of august, but they can price match our order with another vendor. Mind you, they never gave us a final price for the cabinets we originally wanted/ordered.
We had 2 walls that needed to be taken down, and they did ZERO exploratory work. We told them it will need a POST AND BEAM and we were okay with the way it will look rather than doing major structural work for an added cost.

We kept on asking on when demo will begin, and kept reminding them that we have a hard dead line and we are moving out of state. yet nothing ever happend- they kept saying we don't know what's behind the wall. So we yelled and fought and said “the only way you’ll know what’s there is if you open it up!!!!!!!” They should've done their due diligence from day one since we told them it could be a load baring wall. After fighting and pushing now DEMO DAY!!!
The site protection was GARBAGE (used thin butcher paper to “protect” hardwood floors, put up sheet plastic and couldn’t even run the tape in a straight line). It looked like they went to home depot and grabbed a crew to shut us up.
The sub and his crew knew nothing about cod, and thank god my husband knew what to look for, and my father in law was a 30 year union carpenter and saw all the hacks they were doing. We fought again since they were doing shit work and there was visible code violations. We told them none of the work will pass inspections and we kept getting told ( we never failed inspection before and to trust them) I’m sorry...... a drain line that runs uphill, using wrong gauge wiring to wire the kitchen and trying to bury a junction box is code???? we fought again and finally got a new sub ( which flat out called all the work done before garbage)

Later we got told we have to hold on everything and we need a structural engineer to come in and look at the wall and submit the drawing to Alameda county for an additional $4K....... ( mind you, since DAY ONE we said this is a load baring wall, and we are okay to have a post and beam, and not have a seamless transition from kitchen to the rest of the house. why wasn't that included in the quote???)

now a month after paying for the finished material we get told the floor tile is only available in FL and we need to pay for shipping ( why would you make us pay for something that's not there!)

The GC was never at the job site and was never there to MANAGE the project. My husband and I ended up being the ones taking care of everything. The subcontractors were asking us questions daily, questions that would have been answered had there been actual PLANS AND PRINTS made. All they had to go off of was computer renderings and the cabinet layout, which were wrong as well.

Fast forward weeks- and fights alll the time, the GC's brother and cabinet guy came to my house and YELLED AT ME FOR BEING difficult and pointing out issues all the time.... GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT and i wont fight it!!!!

The SUB they hired was amazing and did a fantastic job, but they held back the project a lot!

When we ordered the cabinets we sat with the designer and picked out everything and had A SIGNED layout. in November when the cabinets were being put together we found out that our 15" deep island cabinet is only a 12 because the cabinet company doesn't make a 15... WTH?? what's the point of sitting with someone and signing off AND PAYING for something we were not getting??????????????? At this point we were burnt out on the fights and lies and we gave in. Now countertop time!!! THAT TOOO GOT CANCELLED!!!!!! they had 3 months to get it and weeks before install they said we need to change it from the one we chose back in JULY to a different one that was available now ( went from a beautiful carrera to a mediocre slab) no price credit and i know for a fact that it was a much cheaper option.

After dragging their feet longer i was ready to take legal action and notified them that they had a hard deadline date or i will b

    bathroom remodel
    $32,000

Our shower had a leak and it was time to just update the whole situation. I never done any construction work before, and Blues Brothers did a good job outlining what the process entails and giving us a good price. They also had a showroom which really made the process much easier because we didn't have to go through so many vendors to choose our materials and fixtures. This team was very professional and I totally recommend if you need any remodeling job done well and quick.

    major home remodel
    $190,000

I bought a house last spring and wanted to do some major remodeling around the house- flooring, kitchen, bathrooms, paint, upgrading fixtures… This is my second home so I'm familiar with the typical nightmare-ish mishaps that can occur. Having said that, I was very careful to interview everyone before making a decision. Blues Brothers Construction spent 3 hours at our house going over all the details that we wanted done. I originally got referred to Blues Brothers through my neighbor down the street who redid her home, she spoke highly of them and showed me her house and I was glad to hear they did a quality job from start to finish. I got the same service from them, staying within our budget, sticking to the timeline, and completing the job with minimal hassle to my family and I. Communication throughout the process was easy, they were always avaialble to take our calls and assist with our questions. I highly recomment these guys.

    kitchen remodel
    $35,000

I'm so glad I worked with Blues Brothers to update my kitchen. I spoke with so many contractors just to be sure and safe but Onn stood out to me of being most organized and good quality package. The process was as good as I could imagine- we had a mini kitchen set up so that we could still live and eat out of the house, everything was sealed off nicely to reduce the mess, and the porject was completed realively quick...I already recommended to a few friends who are looking to remodel thier home. Thank you guys.

    kitchen and garage conversion

We converted our garage into an in-law unit. We are very happy with the results from Blues Brothers Construction. Onn is the bomb! We used home advisor and yelp to shop for contractors. On the first consultation meeting, Onn spent over two hours going over the site, explaining everything, going over all the details, answering all of our questions, and we felt like we trusted his company. Throughout the process, the team was very clean, professional, and transparent. The city permit part took some time, but this was not the fault of the construction company, just frustrating... But at the end, we got a quality build out that my family is very happy with.

    kitchen remodel
    $35,000

I used Blues Brothers Construction for my kitchen remodel. I wanted new dark cabinets and a open window to connect to the rest of the house. Blues Brothers offered me a good price compared to the other companies but it also seemed like the right feel to go with them based on Onn's personality and professionalism.

At the end, my husband and I are very happy with the work. The cabinets turned out beautiful and we were able to finish a bit earlier than they promised. Thank you!

    $35,000

After a not so great experience with another contractor working on my bathroom, I decided to use a different company for my kitchen and living room. We did through research before choosing a company this time and Onn came in competitive with his proposal. We started picking out materials through him, which really helped the shopping process and made it easy and organized. He made sure we were aware of the project start date and the ongoing process. They set up a mini kitchen for us off to the side of the house so my family can still have a decent meal. The worksite was very clean and any minor issue was immediately taken care of. Construction is messy and costly, but Blues Borthers took a lot of the pain out of the process- definitely recommend.

    full home remodel
    $95,000

This review is long overdue. We did a full home remodel with blues brothers and its been over a year and I am very happy with the results. The team was great, very clean, diligent, and good communication. I remember them sending progress photos to me which was very nice and helpful. There were a few minor hiccups with the project- but mainly with how long inspection took and waiting on the materials that I ordered. All in all, I would recommend them.

    $22,000

We selected Blues brothers construction for a tub remodel job after getting quotes from six other contractor. What stood out was their professionalism and open communication. I was afraid that a small bathroom job like mine was going to be brushed off because it doesn't compare to full home remodels, but this was not the case. Blues Brothers finished before the estimated time and they treated our project like it was their most important one.

The job was well handled from start to finish. My wife and I were impressed by the high level of care and open communication during the construction process. We are now both thrilled with both the experience working with them and the finished product. I highly recommend Blues Brothers to anyone looking to do a home remodeling.

    bathroom remodel
    $23,000

My husband and I finally got around to doing the first phase of our remodeling - starting with our bathroom. I was pretty nervous to start construction, especially while living in our home still. I had an overall good expereince with Blues Brothers. We explained to them our budget and what we wanted, and they were able to create us something within our budget and timeline. The workers were very neat and respectful of our home. Blues Brothers was also able to source and order our materials for us, which was a huge plus because we saved a few thousands on materials and didn't have to worry about logisitcs of ordering. I bought some additional fixtures off Houzz. At the end, we are giving a 5 star rating and am recommening Blues Brothers Construction to my neighbors who are also looking to remodel thier home.

    kitchen remodel
    $47,000

I had a great experience with Blues Brothers Construction. I did a full gut and remodel to my kitchen- so consulted with a few companies.

I got a good impression after meeting with Onn because he provided me 3D designs based on the look I described. We worked back and forth to finalize the design before scheduling the project.

His team kept everything neat and clean, which was super important to me, especially have 3 little ones running around the house.

I had great communication throughout the process and they were quick to respond to everything that I needed or had concerns about.

Overall I am extremely happy with the outcome, my new kitchen and experience with Blues Brothers Construction.

    kitchen and bathroom remodel
    $75,000

It's my pleasure to give a five star rating to Blues Brothers Construction. I wanted to do a full bathroom and kitchen remodel my home to give it a proper face lift from the old dark and outdated condition that it was in. A buddy of mine recommended Blues Brothers to me after they finished his entire home remodel in Sunnyvale. I explored a few other companies as well just to get a more wider understanding of prices and quality of work that was out there. After the consultation meetings, I decided to go with Blues Brothers Construction because they actually quoted me a fair price and seemed on top of their game. Onn worked with me on my design and addressed all the possible concerns and outcomes before we started the project. This way, we were aware of the obstacles to come before any walls were taken down. My wife and I stayed at the home throughout the construction process. The team did a good job blocking things off and we were still able to use my other bathroom and made a mini kitchen in the house while they worked on it. It was a big project so it took a few months, but the team was able to get things done on schedule and overall I am extremely happy with the quality and outcome of the work. I ordered most my materials and fixtures directly through them, so that also took out a lot of work and streamlined the timing of the whole process better. Thank you for your hard work.

    House addition
    $200,000

We just got done with a 1300 sq ft addition and a complete remodel of our house. Like with any project this size, we had our ups and down but we are very happy with the final product. One of the best thing is the easy accessibility and prompt responses from Onn to resolve any issues even when he was not available instantly, he would always get back. He also stands behind his work - we had a few minor issues around the house and he sent his crew to work on it right away to get it all addressed. The tile work, color and finish on the walls, flooring, cabinet work, etc everything is great. We would highly recommend BB Construction

    kitchen and bathroom

I saw several contractors and got 6 different quotes before selecting Blues Brothers Construction. They weren't the cheapest, but not the top of the quotes I received.

Having a designer in house was a big bonus for me. I needed help in creating the design and feel that I had in my head. The designer had a lot of knowledge and good taste in suggestions. I shared my Pinterest boards with him and he understood the style I was looking for.

Our remodel started out as a kitchen but as we got into it, I also decided to upgrade the bathrooms as well.

I won't lie...remodeling can be very stressful but Blues Brothers Construction was very good to work with. Onn was very transparent, did not try to upset me, and stuck to all the deadlines. He is very conscience about the quality work and obtaining permits every step of the way. The work crew was also very good.

Bottom line, I'm very glad I chose Blues Brothers Constructions. This was a major investment and I wanted to make sure I had no regrets.

    Bathroom Remodel
    $25,000

We love our new bathroom! It turned out exactly as we had hoped and planned, and we wouldn't change a thing. All thanks go to Blues Brothers Construction, and especially to Onn.

We've done several remodels and this was the most fun and satisfying. Like the other remodels, there were problems and mistakes to be dealt with along the way. The difference with this company is how they handled the issues. In every case, they listened to our concerns without defensiveness and insisted on doing it correctly without shortcuts. Several times, I indicated I would be satisfied with a less expensive workaround, but Onn assigned someone immediately to do it right or even worked the issue himself. This often resulted in something better than we had originally envisioned.

The employees and independent contractors were all very pleasant to work with. The tile installer was especially skilled at his craft and went above and beyond in making sure the tile went in perfectly. In a few cases, the installers were not very familiar with the products they were installing, but they were very receptive to our suggestions or pointing out where something was going off track, so everything turned out great in the end.

Onn has set up very effective processes for his company. Communication was excellent and the employees and contractors were all aware of the schedule, daily tasks and routines, and the design plan. All the employees were very engaged and seemed to like and respect their employer. Onn's plans were very detailed and made it very easy to iterate on the design and track the construction progress. The professionalism of their process was similar to much larger, more expensive firms but, instead of resulting in increased costs like the others, we think it improved their efficiency and held down costs.

As they stated, They are not the cheapest or most expensive contractor, and we found that to be true. The quote was very fair but what set them apart is that the estimate didn't change at all through the design process except for some very small additions that we clearly added. And the same price and schedule held through the entire project, again except for a few small changes we requested. Onn suggested several design tweaks that all improved the final product but all were no cost items and or very minor charges where they clearly needed to order more expensive materials. This was a vastly different experience from other contractors who promised a range of cost but grossly inflated the price after detailing the design even though nothing changed.

All in all, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Blues Brothers Construction for any home remodel and will gladly go to them again for our future needs.

    kitchen remodel

I bought a fixer upper and wanted to redesign my whole place, starting with the kitchen and 3 bathrooms. I was on a budget but still wanted a job well done so I got 3 different quotes. I decided to go with Blues Brothers Construction because they offered me a very reasonable price and what really stuck out to me was their customer service.

Communication and turnaround times was always fast and consistent. They made this process very streamlined: providing me with 3D designs, editing it to my specifications, showing me reasonably priced materials and vendors, staying on top of the construction process, etc.

For my kitchen countertop, I didn't want to go with granite or quartz (and couldn't afford 20k calacatta gold marble slabs :''''( ) so I went with porcelain, which apparently is more specialty since it isn't as common and a bit harder to work with. But Blues Brothers had people on their team who specialized in this and were able to get it done for me.

The construction process went quite smoothly. They covered things up well so the construction dust didn't spread, and the project was completed on schedule.

    Thank you BBC!
