I would avoid this contractor at all costs. According to the State of NJ, Dept. of Law&Public Safety, Div. of Consumer Affairs, he has no license. Ask him for a business card, you will see there is no license or business address. He is obligated by law to give you a written contract, being very specific as to what work he will complete for you. He also should supply a statement of warranty for products and labor. He gave me none of these. Worse of all, before I checked him out, I gave him a check for $1,200 on October 5th as a down payment to paint our house. By law, you have three days to cancel. any contract. I called him the next morning to cancel. It is now November 1st, and he has not returned my money as he said he would. He also said he is charging me for his “free estimate”, so I should not expect the full amount back. My calls to him remain unanswered. At this point, both the local police, as well as the Div. of Consumer Affairs are looking into the matter.
