    Handyman/Contracting

Meeting Mathew Wilson with Bonfire Craftsman was a massive mistake! I interviewed several contractors from thumbtack.com and hired Matthew because he had offered to help one of my real estate clients who was going through rough times. I thought that was a kind gesture so I wanted to help him with growing his contracting business. He was also curious about my own nonprofit ministry that I am the founder of, so I invited Mathew to visit one of our short informal nonprofit meetings. It was there that I introduced him to two other real estate agents that are dear friends of mine, and these two ladies trusted my judgment and recommendation of his character, and therefore also offered to help him out, and they both gave him a few contracting jobs right off the bat.

As for my experience with him (with my real estate client who was going through rough times) he only worked on her home one day, and partially framed in a bedroom. While he was there that day, my client was texting me telling me that ‘he and his workers got into a screaming match argument, and they walked off the job’. I stuck up for him, figuring he had just run into bad luck contractors/employees. Then I just found out recently that he did the framing completely incorrectly, as it was supposed to be a floating floor, so the framing is all wrong and has to be ripped out and redone. I did contact him about this and he said ‘he knows he did it incorrectly, but he planned to come back to fix it.’ But why would he do it incorrectly in the first place?! Excuses, excuses! Does this guy really even have a contractors license?! Based on his lack of knowledge, I would be surprised if he does, with his terrible workmanship.

Then I was spoke with both of the real estate agent friends that I introduced him to, and they are both having nightmare transactions with him on their own properties, as well as on their real estate clients properties. He took massive amounts of money from both of these real estate agents (well over $10K from one of them) and their own real estate clients, where he demolished the job sites and won’t return their money! Again, making up every excuse in the book! Closings have been delayed, and he’s literally also screaming and cursing them, texting them hundreds of times, threatening them, police reports are involved, etc.

I also found out that he’s lying and telling people that he is “on the Board of Directors for my nonprofit ministry” because he attended that one informal meeting. He is absolutely in no way affiliated with or part of our nonprofit whatsoever. I’m absolutely disgusted with the fact that I made the initial introduction to my dear real estate friends, and that he has done a horrible job for multiple people, including now threatening them! I’m truly ashamed that I mistook a wolf in sheeps clothing. He’s a horrible contractor/scammer that breaths lies! I had to block his phone number in my phone too. I pray he does not contact me again, otherwise, he will have to speak with my husband and deal with another police report! By the way, according to the police, apparently he has two assault charges on his record or pending.

Do yourself a favor and be very cautious with this man and his scamming business tactics. At this point I truly believe he takes peoples money, starts with demolishing whatever job they hired him for, and then walks away. This has now happened on multiple jobsites, so it cannot be a coincidence. I heard today that two more people were robbed by him that we’re family or friends of the real estate agents that I had recommended. I truly did so much to help him. With my introductions, he obviously had multiple contracting jobs, I also helped him post online when his dog was stolen, I worried about him when he had his work trailer hit by a car, and on another occasion had his trailer disconnected from his truck by, what he said, more disgruntled workers, etc. LIES!!!! It has been a whirlwind of drama and all lies! I did everything to help him and several people are incredibly hurt by his actions in the process! Beware, beware, beware!
