We planned to put our house on the market and knew that we needed some work done – nothing major, but a few moderate projects, and several things that were dated and that we weren’t sure if we should have updates completed. As we aren’t handy, and aren’t too savvy with interior design, we sought help. We tried three people we found online: The first took a few days to return our message, then was non-committal about coming to see the house (and was a no-show when he finally committed to a date). The second person was more responsive, but when he looked at our house he was adamant about doing several projects and didn’t want to take a measured approach. Then we contacted Brandt – he was excellent. He returned our call within a few hours of leaving a message. He was able to come out the next day, on our schedule. He was pleasant and personable. He explained his approach and was collaborative. He listened to our questions, gave us options and his own suggestions (based on his experience as a contractor, and as someone who gets houses ready for sale). His advice was practical, logical, and appropriate for our needs. He made a few suggestions for things that we hadn’t even thought of, but also advised us not to do a few things that we had previously thought were necessary (just the kind of consultation we needed). He provided these in a very comprehensive quote. We took most, but not all, of his suggestions, and that was completely fine. He was transparent about when he would do the work, how long it would take, and how much it would cost. At the end of each project day he sent us a detailed email about the project status. The outcome was amazing – the house looked great, the projects took exactly as long as he said they would, and he made sure that we were happy with the work before calling it “done.” I highly recommend Brandt, especially for anyone like us who needs a contractor but also someone who can advise you about what to do and what not to do for your house.
