    Basement Remodel project

    "We hired Theodore (TJ) Welker to remodel our new house basement on 5/22/19. Since 5/22/19 to 10/17/19 he showed up a total of 11 days. It is 12/23/19 and he has not finish or been working on my project in over 2 months since October 17th. He never finished the rough which was to be 75% of the payment and job. He did $15,000 worth of work and 20% of rough for a $27,500 PAYMENT. Most contractors would take 4-5 days to rough out a basement. He took 7 months!!!!! We requested through pay pal $4500 back, so we have paid a total of $23,000. We had to fire him and now will seek Judicial support. He cause structural damage to the floor joists and did not build to code. I had the city out to look at it and their jaws dropped and the lack of craftsmanship. I would never rehire him ever again. We will not be able to finish our dream basement that took 8 years to save up for on a Teachers salary. Buildzoom needs to do a better job vetting their contractors. WE ARE DEVASTATED. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!! "
    Things wrong with his work.
    1. Closets - joists not secured to the 2x4 ceiling

    2. Wago connectors in the cans stripped back too far.

    3. The float of the basement is too large in areas with an inadequate number of spikes.

    4. Joining of two bath fans to one exhaust at incorrect diameter

    5. No fire blocking

    6. Soffit work incomplete and backing incomplete.

    7. Sill plate loose or up from the concrete in at least one spot

    8. Return was present but in wrong location.

    9. Basement floor removed/damaged and not replaced

    10. Hole in the floor joist.

    11. HVAC installed too close to the Wall x 2. Missing return vents x3.

    12. Framing has defects- Walls not plumb, 4 windows not plumb, all doorways are the wrong size to fit a door.

    13. Not enough floor anchors to hold the walls in place.

    14. Electrical defects- wiring for the ceiling lights.

    15. Wall boards not nailed, walls in 2 closets not fastened, floating in mid-air.
