Permits
- Building permit records show that Bridgeworks Construction has worked on 54 permitted projects.
We've engaged this contractor on two occasions. Our first office buildout experienced some delays but was ultimately completed with relatively few issues. However, our second office project was a complete disaster right from the beginning.
It began with the concrete contractor damaging the structural integrity of the floor by core drilling in the wrong location, disregarding the provided drawings. They inadvertently cut through steel floor joists, a high-voltage power cable leading to the electrical panel, and video surveillance cables. Instead of promptly halting work and notifying property management of the situation, they persisted, leading to a flood in the basement, affecting the electrical panels supplying power to the entire office building. Correcting this problem took an inordinate amount of time, and I had to consistently intervene with property management to resolve the issue.
The concrete work was carried out during regular working hours on several occasions, leading to numerous complaints from property owners about the noise. The situation escalated to the point where property owners threatened to terminate the contract with BridgeWorks and halt the project.
BridgeWorks' designer declined to visit the site to discuss finishes and materials, resulting in the installation of incorrect doors, door hardware, and baseboard molding. The doors were never rectified; we were invoiced for solid-core stained office doors but received lower-quality, on-site-stained doors instead, resulting in a subpar finish. The same issue arose with the door hardware; we were billed for upgraded hardware but received lower-quality replacements. Unfortunately, BridgeWorks showed little interest in addressing these problems, and we had no choice but to proceed with the project as is due to time constraints.
In the end, our move was delayed by four months. On the confirmed move-in date, which we had arranged with BridgeWorks a month in advance, the office was not cleaned, and work was still ongoing in the suite. Our moving team nearly turned back in frustration.
Additionally, we were invoiced for services that were not completed, prompting us to bring this to their attention and have those charges removed. One particular item that was originally quoted at $6,000 was unexpectedly upcharged to $13,000 during installation.
Overall, our experience with BridgeWorks this time around was highly unsatisfactory. We have no intention of using their services again and cannot recommend them. We strongly advise conducting thorough research and exploring other contractor options. Despite the high cost, our experience with BridgeWorks left much to be desired.
