Brighton was a very difficult company to work with. Our home did not seem to have too many issues, however our poor neighbors dealt with basement flooding, paint mixed with primer, buckling floors, the list goes on. I think the reason ours wasn't that way was because we visited our home at least 4 times a week. We kept an eye on things making sure it was done correctly. While our neighbors were not so lucky. We signed in September of 2020, well into the pandemic, and when we received our 30 day notice (which was more like a 60 day notice) a week later they increased our price by $20K stating it was because of COVID. Even though our home was near completion. It seemed that they were just trying to recoup costs due to their negligence of property while building the homes. Once we were in our home we had a horrific rainstorm and the building across the alley way was near completion at this point and they left all of the windows and doors open making it susceptible to flooding. Which they then had to tear out walls and flooring in one to replace the flood damage. I would not be surprised if they decided to increase the price of that unit and blame it on COVID when in reality it was their own negligence and misjudgments. We sold our home 2.5 months after moving because we were scared to see where our home would be in 5 years. Our warranty guy was told of things needed fixed, but then would only show up if we contacted him daily until it was finished. Absolutely ridiculous. The only reason I am happy we built with Brighton was because of the equity we built over their 9 months of building allowed us to move into a single family. So unless the market does what it did in 2020-2021, I would say DO NOT BUILD WITH BRIGHTON. Oh. Not even to mention their pet project of rentals that were not moved into who had their yard done, mailboxes, were started after ours, and completed months before. By the time we moved, our yard had been pushed to next year, and we still did not have a mailbox key. It was truly the most frustrating experience of my life. Save yourself the trouble, and build with a reliable, trustworthy, honest builder. Because you will not find that with Brighton.
