BTM Contracting

Hired this person in August 2015. When asked where I got his contact info, I stated HomeAdvisor, he told me he gets a lot of business from this site. I wonder why I'm only the second reviewer... there were no reviews when we hired him?

I showed him the inside damage to the ceiling and let him take a look around on the roof. He said there were problems with our roof even though it was only 3-4 years old...saying it was installed improperly. This portion of the roof is like a witches hat with 5 sections of roof draining in 5 different directions. He tried talking me into redoing the entire roof on all 5 sections as it was "bad" even though the other 4 sections had NOTHING to do with the leak. He gave us a 10 year warranty on his repair work and said he's always does this because he's confident in their work.

So they took off the old section of roof, stated there were black stains from the peak which is where the leak was coming from, said the flashing around the chimney "looked fine" even though the ceiling staining inside showed it to be coming from that area and finished up the roof. Actually he did none of the work, he walks around talking and texting on his phone all day, however, he did personally check the flashing.

We didn't have rain for a while but as soon as it did, the stain on the inside ceiling started getting bigger and faster. An email got him to come out and he used an entire tube of silicon to seal around the flashing. You should see what he's done to our house! I told him I didn't care what the back of the chimney looked like but holy crap it looks like Frankenstein's Monster on the sides and front!

No rain again for a few weeks and then in November, guess what happened? The ceiling stain started to get bigger again. I emailed him late November/early December...he stated in reply to my December 23rd email, he never got the earlier email. He said he would be out after the holiday. I told him I didn't expect him to come over the Christmas/New Year holiday, we would see him then.

So here we are in the last week of February and still no "Bobby". Rude email replies and a lazy attitude has caused us to seek another contractor to fix the roof properly. His latest email claimed he didn't typically warrant "repairs" even though I have an email stating that he does and a verbal statement prior to hiring him. Want proof" Email me and I'll forward you the emails!

Apparently our new contractor is quite familiar with following BTM around and fixing their failures.

If you have a cheap home and are willing to gamble...by all means, give BTM a try. Personally, I wouldn't trust this company to re-shingle a dog house! It's a shame...the workers should go work for a reputable company as they do work hard and are very polite. It's a shame they choose to work for such a hack contractor.
