Burkett Homes drug homebuyers through a two month contract with several conversations that seemed amicable to extension if necessary because of a home sale contingency if the buyers were willing to cover closing costs, which they were. At then end of a two-month contract and blood, sweat, and tears, the buyers were able to remove the home sale contingency, and needed one extension to close the loan out. In spite of the fact that these buyers are now the fastest way to close with no contingencies, the builder decided to take advantage of the situation and pocket 15 thousand dollars of non-refundable earnest money and sell to another buyer. They knew full well what they were doing and had no concern for how this impacted these buyers. The lack of ethical standard here is appalling.
