Burney Byrd was Nucor Steels preferred builder so we decided to use him as our GC since we were buying our 50 x 80 building from Nurcor. The first thing he did in June of 2018 was hire a crew that poured a 4000 sq foot defective foundation 5 out of 6 core samples of the foundation failed. He promised to correct the foundation issue. Almost a year later he asks to use his profit money to pay for the repair of the foundation. Still believing he was a reputable contractor we agreed to let him use the money $10,652.23 on the condition he finish the building quickly. He said he need materials money so that there would be no hold up when the building was being constructed so he took took $11,482.00 for 2 Garage Doors, Insulation, & our Front Porch framing and roof. After receiving the money he would only work on the building 2-3 hrs a day and missed many days in between work days. Including taking several vacations where he would be gone for over a week. We asked for the Materials to be brought to the site over and over. Our Bank even asked for the materials and gave deadlines which he would promise to meet but never met the deadlines he promised. In September of 2019 he walked off the job site after many many lies and promises to complete the Building. As of January 2020 he still owes us $22,134.23 Not including the cost for Engineers, , the machine to take the core samples, the cost to test the core samples, plus having to hire a new crew to finish a job he was paid to do and interest we have had to pay the bank on a building we do not have complete. I do not recommend using Burney Construction of Waxahachie Tx. or his other business Dallas Metal Buildings - Burney Construction
