Permits

Hired Mr. Loredo to install a canopy per engineering and architectural drawings. His bid was higher than others but I went with him as he had good reviews online and said he could get the work started and finished in a week’s time. He started work only several weeks later. Then quickly stopped work accusing the design to be unstable. The engineer was brought out to the site and reassured the design was fine and would be more stable when completed. The engineer further suggested adding some hurricane brackets to increase stability. Mr. Loredo saw this as a change order opportunity and asked +$500 to install a few hurricane brackets (About an hours work, I refused). The crew then did not finish the canopy to the spec of the drawings or the timeline in our agreement. I had to hire another crew to finish the rest of the canopy. Mr. Loredo asked to be paid the full amount of the work. I paid him the full amount minus the amount the new crew cost to finish the structure. Instead of being satisfied (Mr. Loredo cost me larger liquidated damages by missing the timeline) he has threatened me for the past week with filing a lien on the property. Unless you enjoy working with this type of company, stay far far away.
