    Build a custom home
    $750,000

Craig Edwards, owner of this company is only concerned about making money any way he can. This includes asking subcontractors to overcharge-he did it with the electrician, the fireplace company, and the window installer. He also doesn't completely follow the architectural plans and provides shoddy work. No one should hire him. He has a difficult time keeping subs because he doesn't always pay them. A sub who did work for him on another job came to my house looking for him. The sub said Craig owed him $12k for work he completed. Craig was ultimately fired by me. I'm out a LOT of money behind the stealing.

Plus, all of the mistakes Craig made had to be repaired before the build could continue. Craig has no sense of timely scheduling for certain aspects of the build. And, as a result, prices were higher for last minute work. He also told several lies about work to be done. When the companies were called by me to confirm what Craig said, they either had no info from him or the status he claimed for things was not true.

There's so much more to say about him but let this be a strong warming to anyone considering hiring him. I did not hire him thru buildzoom.com but, he's never wrong, he doesn't like when a client asks too many questions, or speak with any of the subs. And if you want to sue him, he'll just file bankruptcy. Stay away from this guy!!

    Build our new home

Imagine moving to Texas and hiring a contractor to build your dream home. Imagine you start having problems with said contactor immediately after you sign the contract with him. Imagine he does such a poor job, that you have to hire a lawyer to get rid of him, and hire a new contactor. Then, imagine learning that the guy has been stealing from you. This is what happened to us, all because we hired Craig Edwards of C. Alexander Company.
The nightmare began when my wife and I hired Edwards to build our house in Cedar Hill. Edwards seemed like the perfect guy to build our home, UNTIL WE SIGNED THAT CONTRACT! As soon as we signed, Edwards started costing us money. It took him so long to give us information requested by the bank, the 3.25% interest rate we had at the time, jumped to 3.75%.
The incompetence continued as Edwards allowed the framers to improperly frame the house with columns that were not the same size, and not framed according to the plans. This was pointed out to Edwards months ago. Edwards repeatedly said it would be fixed AFTER the framing inspection. He never fixed the issue. Finally, our new builder came in and fixed the problems Edwards caused, but we lost a lot of money because of it.
Edwards was rarely ever seen at the jobsite, and neighbors actually asked if he was still the builder. He has lied to us repeatedly. He told us that windows had been ordered when they weren’t. He told us that roof trusses were already being built, but a week later, we found a man at our house taking measurements for roof trusses which had not been started.
Before I knew everything that he had done, we got into an altercation. I completely lost my cool and went after him physically. Fortunately, 3 people kept me off of him. I’m not proud of my actions, and I admit that I was wrong, but imagine what it would take for a client to want to physically harm the person building their home. By the end of our dealings with him, he refused to speak with me anymore, and only spoke with my wife.
My wife had to micro-manage Edwards because of his incompetence. He never kept up with when items should be ordered such as the windows. He constantly waited until the last minute to do things and he would lie about things he said he had done. The windows and the roof trusses are two examples. Edwards said that those items had been ordered. However, when my wife called the businesses to confirm, she learned that this was not true. Edwards would tell anyone who would listen that we asked too many questions. I think you can see why.
Worst of all is the theft. We learned later that he had been over-charging us for electrical work, roofing, and framing. We learned that he had been having subcontractors add to their bids so he could take money out for himself. I have documented proof of this. We got charged essentially double what we should have paid for our roof by a company called MQ Roofing. Turns out, the Registered Agent for MQ Roofing is……you guessed it ….. CRAIG EDWARDS.
Edwards bragged to our new builder that he instructed the Electrician, Salvador Lopez (Salvador Lighting), to overcharge us by approximately double. Lopez denied this when we confronted him about it.
Throughout the entire time Edwards was our builder, we only got 5 consecutive days of work on our house ONCE! Edwards blew off meetings, and treated our time like it meant nothing. We couldn’t get a budget report out of him to save our lives.
We trusted Edwards to pay subcontractors. We shouldn’t have. We got demand letters for payment from two different subs, and one even filed a lien against the property.
The plans call for two steps into a game room and media room. Edwards either forgot, or never reviewed the plans because no step was framed out. I reminded him of this, and he asked me if I still wanted it! IT WAS ON THE PLANS! We wound up having only one step, and he tried to bill us for that as extra work.
Craig Edwards is an incompetent builder, a liar, and a thief! He should not be allowed to continue building in Texas, or anywhere else! I will contact every regulatory agency I can find to warn them about him.
Another victim of his, Keara Taylor, also posted a review of his company. He responded and called her every kind of liar. SHE WAS NOT LYING. We had the exact same experience with him that she had. If he responds and says I am lying, I will post the text string where he is directing my new builder to charge us a higher number than we already knew the price to be. I will also post the letter our attorney sent to him. I also have pictures of his substandard work.

Build a small snow cone shop
    $40,000

Craig Edwards was paid to build a small snow cone shop in Duncanville Tx for me. I was referred to him by a company called Buildzoom. I paid Craig Edwards 17k, 8k, and 12k. This is my first business and Craig took major advantage. After he was paid, he stopped answering calls or texts. He would not respond to a finish date for my project. The sub contractors started calling me telling me they were not getting paid, and Craig was telling them false stories to get out of paying them. Craig had my project since the first week of January 2022, and did not complete the project. He quit the first week of May 2022 when I called Buildzoom asking for them to help me because Craig took my money and stopped responding to calls or meeting any deadlines he promised. Craig sent me racist and misogynistic text messages. His previous employee advised me that he spent the money for my projects on his bankruptcy matters and not spending my money toward my project. I found out that he scams people because he’s currently in bankruptcy, and he feels he cannot be touched once the customer makes their down payment. Craig dragged me along by telling me that he could not get anyone to work on my project because it was too small. He said no one wants to work small projects, they only want the big ones. He wasn’t paying the sub contractors whom he hired, and that’s why my project was not getting completed. My building is only 280 square feet. He had my project from January to May, and never finished. I have talked to several families who he was building homes for and he did the same thing to all of them, some individuals were afraid to speak up. I even had contractors come to my shop looking for Craig because they seen my reviews, and advised that he didn’t pay them either on other projects they worked on for him. My new electrician that I had to hire to fix the issues noticed the ceiling wasn’t even insulated when he went to run his wires. Craig’s people sheet rocked the ceiling and painted it with no insulation. Also, I paid for foam insulation which I never got. My floors starting coming up months later. Craig Edwards and his subs glued the tiles on the wood. This has costed me so much money to fix. This guy ripped me off, took my money, and quit my project. The stress this has caused is unreal! I just wanted to open up a small snow cone shop, and this guy took my hard earned money that I saved for 8 years. He blocked my number and refuse to give me any money for the materials I paid for which I never received, and also unfinished work. I am currently suing Craig Edwards! Please read my review and stay far away from this guy! Contractors, subs, families, individuals. Everyone! Beware of Craig Edwards!
