    Kitchen remodel
    $20,000

Worst contractor ever. We hired them to do our kitchen. They started out strong. Got demolition done fast, pretty clean and had some unique ideas too. Told us project will take 3 weeks. After weeks, 2 nobody showed up. We contacted him multiple times with no response and eventually found out that he went on vacation. After that they would show up maybe 1 day a week, sitting around smoking and not getting much done. It's been over 3 months. We since fired them. He still owes us money for the windows we never got and they never evened out the floor so now my brand new flooring is coming apart at the seams. We had to hire someone else to finish and fix his crappy work.We reached out multiple times asking for our money back and originally he said he will stop by with a check but then stopped taking our calls. Worst contractor and big time scammer and liar.

    Kitchen
    $10,000

We would never recommend them. Chuck is good at carpentry but his crew did a poor job on the flooring and left a big mess in our garage of trash. They showed up here and there and were very inconsistent with communication. After numerous weeks of the project being incomplete well beyond agreed timeframe we had to get someone else to come in to help finish. They still owe us money for deposit we gave for windows which we never got and never got installed. Plesse , go elsewhere there are good ones out there that have better communication and work ethics.

Bathroom Remodel, Electrical, Great Room Remotel
    $28,500

I would never recommend using this company to anyone. They’ll sure take your money quick enough and then come up with every excuse under the sun to delay completion of your job. Our renovation started in late February and was supposed to be completed April 9th. It is now June 22 and we have passed several more promised “completion” dates and are still not able to live in the house due to the bathroom being ripped out. When first meeting with Chuck to discuss the project, he came off as very personable, charming guy. Do not let this guys personality fool you. He will absolutely disappear on you like he has with apparently several other jobs.

We had a ceiling replaced and incorrect materials for the job were used causing it to crack. All of the seams needed to be ripped out and replaced, and it is still cracking. A company that has been in business for 17 year should be pretty well versed in dry wall materials and know when to use what based on the job. We were lied to and told the inspector had been to our house several times and had ridiculous reasons as to why the plumbing inspection did not pass before reaching out to the inspector ourselves and being told he hadn’t been out since we bought the house in February. Two months after the job was supposed to have been completed we were told and continue to be told about issues with materials we chose which were supplied via a pdf document in early March. If this document hadn’t been opened until now, how was this supposed to have been done in April? The electrician he uses didn’t even know about any kind of end dates for the project at all so it’s been smoke and mirrors. The details never add up. Quite frankly, if I pulled this at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago.

Overall, communication has been terrible throughout the project. I guess the owner, Chuck, does not like to respond to females. I tried reaching out to him at a minimum of 20 times via text, email and phone call with still no response but he’ll answer my boyfriends call on occasion? It appears that they use the same excuses on every job as to why there are delays, however they tell you they are somewhere in State College for a family emergency while being checked in to a brewery in Pottstown on Facebook with pictures. Every single delay is never ever their fault either. No extra time be spent at your job to try and get it back on schedule or any schedule at all. If you hound them enough they’ll come back and do small things that maybe take an hour in total to get you off of their backs.

To anyone who is currently working with them and having the same problems as we are, please look in to the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. There are very specific requirements for contractors within PA which this company does not meet. The consequences include fines, criminal charges, possible loss of license and they will be required to submit a finalized remediation schedule or refund your money. Unfortunately for me, this was not known prior to signing. You can file a complaint to the Attorney General with the documentation C Destefano and Sons gives you. This was being held as a last resort for us as it requires a good amount of time to compile and submit the documentation, however with the consistent lies and lack of response we have been forced in to it after yet another missed deadline.

    Hang doors and lay flooring
    $3,200

No stars! He came to quote the job and it took two weeks for him to contact me. He told me his daughter had a stroke. He then came out the next day I paid him . He cane out again and wrote on the invoice $600 to be paid when the work is done . Stupid me paid the whole amount including the $600. He then wouldn’t take my calls ignored my texts . Then weeks later he told me he was really sick and he will come back later that week but never came. He then told me he had a flood. I need to pay someone to finish my flooring and to fix the doors he hung . He is the worse. He deserves no stars

These are a bunch of liars. They will take your money and not complete the job. Stay away from them and their crooked practices. A real shame!

    Build a shed
    $600

Been waiting for a paid for shed to be finished , which is now falling apart since May 2016 - job is paid in full , I have tried reaching the owner chuck many times through calls , texts & even fb with no response. All I want is the the amount of $$$ returned to hire another contractor to repair & finish this half a**ed job. Sorry I would not recommend this company as Im seeing other posts of jobs not finised yet paid in full

This is definitely a 2 part review. The initial meeting with owner chuck was great. I really liked him , his ideas, and how personable he was. Not only did we choose him because they were fairly priced, but my husband and I immediately got a good and honest vibe from him. Which was important to me, as they would be spending the next several weeks in my home.

The work started and they got off to a quick start! A few hiccups a long the way-none being the guys fault. They got a little behind schedule-again not entirely their fault, but definitely milked those "hiccups". However, then started the real problems.

Let me say their work was amazing. They did great work, they truly did. The last puzzle piece, for us however, has now left such a terrible taste in our mouth I still cannot let it go. They finished 90% of the work -all while being paid on time and in full every time a payment was asked of us. The last day they were suppose to be there was our final payment. I guess shame on us for giving it to them. They were suppose to come back the week after to finish a "punch list" for us as there was a few tools they did not have to complete the task on the last day, and siding they were still waiting for that was "ordered" and not in yet. A whole month went by with ZERO communication. My husband called/texted/left voicemails for the owner. All went unanswered. We spent a lot of money on the remodel of our home and at the very least we expect return phone calls.

My husband finally got a hold of the son Justin who we dealt with when not dealing with Chuck the owner. Justin apologized immensely and all our initial thoughts about how honest and much we liked these guys while they were in our home were reassured. Justin set up a time the following week for them to come back and finish half the punch list while his dad would need to come finish the detail work. That day came and went and had to be rescheduled bc of an emergency they had at another job. Justin set up a time to come later in the week. When we tried to confirm a time we never heard from Justin until the day was half over. His child became ill. Justin said we were a priority and he would do everything he could for us the following week to show us that. We were desperate to make sure things were done for my sons communion party the following week. They had one whole week to finish a punch list that would take half a day at best. They never even called. I am so upset over this. How could you do that to a customer that gave u business and trusted you to get this done? I'll say it again they did good work, but I would never recommend them to anyone and I would never trust them to do other work for us when they can't even stay in communication with us and finish the job that they started. So as I write this review our last communication with them was almost 2 weeks ago when they told us that we were a priority for them and that they would be in touch and try to get it done before our big party. I've never given a bad review in my life and now I can't believe I'm writing this, but think before hiring this company.
