  Met Charles in August 2022 said he was going to finish a home project that was partially started. He said he would finish the kitchen, basement, re-wiring and all of the appliances. He was given a deposit to buy materials and claimed he put them in his "warehouse" but we never saw these items. He gave us the run around about getting a license/permit to complete the things thst needed to be done but he never did. He also kept the key. He lied about fixing the house and giving us back our key. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PERSON EVER.

  Roof maintenance

  $650

  Charles White of C&S Masonry completed service on my roof in May 2021 for $650 with a 5 yr. warranty. On June 28, 2023, I called Mr. White to come out to check my roof because I noticed a ceiling stain in a 2nd floor room. Note that his roof work is still under warranty. He set up an appt. to come out on Saturday, July 1, between 9-10:00 a.m. I called him when he did not show up; he gave some lame excuse that he was waiting for his helper and should arrive before noon. I waited until 1:00 p.m.; no show, no call. On July 2, I sent him a text to let me know when he would be by to check the roof. Mr. White has never responded. Both my neighbor and I paid him for work that he has simply abandoned. His lack of response shows that he is a unethical businessman that cannot be trusted. His word is not his bond. He won't even honor his written contract. Would definitely not recommend him to anyone for any work.

  Change out my wooden door for a security screen door and a security main door.

  C&S Masonary and home restoration being operated by Charles White was recommended to me by a professional associate. He was hired to change out my wooden door for two security doors, gave me a quote indicating it was a real deal and a job that should’ve taken one day has now ended up with a four week wait and contractor abandonment and breach of contract. The contractors were inept, obviously unprepared for the job and did a poor job of assessing what was necessary, how long it should take and what it should cost. The contractor did nothing but lie, gaslight, with a bunch of promises he never kept. He would not show up on the days arranged and not even called to explain his absence. Then when I got a hold of him he would lie about when he was coming again and not show up again. He took my money that I gave him five days in advance of him starting the job and allegedly purchased two doors by the time he got around to buying the doors one was Out of stock even though I had made sure the door was in stock because he told me that he was gonna go by pick up the doors and deliver them to me prior to him starting the job. Of course he took my money did not follow through on buying and delivering the doors until five days later causing this screen door to have to be put on order and a three week wait. Additionally I asked for a receipt to confirm the purchase is three times to which he refused to respond so I have no evidence that the door that he put in cost what it did and even that the secret Curity door was ordered. I have been advised by the police department to file a police report indicating theft for the second door. He left my porch a mess he made a big mess on the neighbors porch causing them to have damage to the carpet and he only came back to clean that up when he was asked to do it by the person who referred him to me. Meanwhile my home was filled to the brim with red brick dust because he didn’t have the proper plastic or equipment to end up having to cut the brick he left a mess with that mess on my front porch pieces of molding with long rusty nail sticking out over my fence for anyone to cut themselves on and of course the two doors left on my porch too heavy for senior citizen to move herself. Among the lies he told was that he was coming back to put the doors out in the trash for me two days later and despite me notifying him again he never came and never responded so the doors remain on my porch as trash for weeks later. I will have to hire somebody to put them on the curb as well as hire someone to clean the red dust off of my porch and most likely hire a house cleaner to come in and clean the red dust off my wood floors and Furniture. I took the day off yesterday because he promised he was coming bright and early at 10 AM I never heard from him until two hours later after I inquired about his whereabouts and I got some cryptic text about him being at the municipal building but ensuring me he would be there shortly. He also says insured the person who referred him to me that he would be there. He never showed up at all nor never reached out or called to explain his absence, to explain what happened to my money, to explain why he’s breaching the contract and abandoning the job and any of his false promises and lies which fortunately were recorded on my ring camera as well as in the multiple text he sent. I will be logging complaints at all the appropriate agencies in addition to the police report and a couple of attorneys have volunteered to take my case because they work specifically on contractors who scam senior citizens in Philadelphia. Needless to say stay away from this company. I try to give my business to my own black community and ended up with a black contractor who just took advantage of me. He even brought his father along who is about 70 who did most of the work while Charles white sat on the porch scrolling on his phone. We will be contacting the licensure and if he’s insured as his business card indicates he will be responding financially to our efforts to recoop My lost funds in addition to the unnecessary pain and suffering I have experienced as a senior citizen unable to clean up the mess that he made. Avoid this Contractor unless you want a bunch of headaches. He will look you exactly in the face and lie about everything and then take your money.
