  The 1st issue is that Tim doesn't supply a contract, that was our fist mistake. He also wants to charge a lot for a deposit (which isn't even legal). He does good work, but doesn't know how to use contracts, and he makes mistakes but it isn't spelled out in a contract.

  Water damage cabinet rebuilt/refurbish

  Horrible experience dealing with this company! Tim is so unprofessional. He was hired by a company called Superior Restoration (another horrible experience) to rebuild our kitchen cabinets after water damage. They took ALL our cabinets doors to "repaint" to match the few cabinets needing to be rebuilt. We raised concerns to Superior Restoration with the vendor they had hired after reading terrible reviews about this company and Tim. Shortly thereafter, we wanted to part ways with Superior and contacted Tim directly. We told him to NOT paint any of our cabinets or doors (we hadn't even approved a paint color) and we would pay him for the work he had done to date and make arrangements to have everything returned. We planned to have a different contractor install and paint them. Days later, Superior informs us that the cabinets has already been painted and they can't return our cabinets because, first, Tim has Covid and can't provide a final invoice. After weeks of waiting, and paying our invoice in full, including painting we did not authorize, we are then told that Tim does not have our cabinets and doors, but they are being stored at the painter, Luis's shop and blocked by a paint booth which cannot be disturbed. We are then told we would receive our cabinets and doors the following week, "Thursday or Friday at the latest, perhaps earlier". Thursday, no update or delivery. Friday, not update, so we contact Tim in the early morning, no response. Contact Superior and are told "arriving at 3pm and several deliveries". Friday night traffic, in and out of Newport Beach, we knew this would be a problem and suggested hiring a large truck and make one delivery. 2pm, Luis (painter) and his son show up with three of our cabinets in the back of a pickup truck and tell us that they will not be making another delivery and would come back in the morning. This conflicted with an appointment we had for the following day, Saturday. He claims he just learned the night prior that he would be making the one delivery. Tim, clearly is incapable of managing his business in a professional manner. Unbelievable! We even paid $300 to have our cabinets returned, and they are delivered in the back of a pick up truck? I could go on, but I hope you get the picture. Avoid this company at all costs. Sadly, this is a poor reflection on Superior Restoration as well for having the poor judgment in hiring this company, therefore causing us a tremdous amount of waisted time, stress and frustration. This is the worst experiance we have had with a vendor and contractor. We hope taking the time to write this review will be helpful to someone else.

  Custom Kitchen Cabinets

  It was like déjà vu reading the previous review on August 3, 2019. I wonder if I was the other urgent job Tim had get to because we were going through the same thing at the same time last year. Our job was a pretty big custom kitchen cabinet install so it was estimated to be about a three week install that turned out to be like 4 months. I fell for the “I need to pay my guys” a couple times and gave him payments I shouldn’t have. Luckily, I kept a good amount for the finished product and he just could not finish so we had to let him go. We also had no doors at install and a bad paint job because it’s only been a little over a year and several places are chipping or rubbing off. Also, he made the wrong style for 4 of our doors. I had to settle for less than my dream kitchen for over $40,000. They were lucky to even see Tim because the only time we saw him was when he wanted $$$. Tim was so unprofessional that we literally had arguments in front of his people blaming me that they couldn’t get paid because I wouldn’t pay him! I would NEVER recommend Cali Custom Cabinets.

  Install new kitchen cabinets

  I would give negative starts, not any positive. Our entire downstairs flooded and we hired Cali Custom to do a complete install on our kitchen, we were told that it would take one week total, from start to completely installed. It ended up taking almost 4 months. Just a few of the frustrations were: It took over 6 weeks to even get the install started. The day of install the team showed up and said that the floor was not level and we had to fix it. They left. Then 2 weeks later when they finally came back to start install the install crew waited until I left to pick up my kids to leave job saying they had a more pressing job to complete. They showed up with the cabinets, no doors. Then they came back a week later with the doors but had lost the hinges and wanted to know where I had put them. Turned out they had never left the shop. They drilled one of the holes wrong for the handles and had to patch it. They did not have enough light rail to go around all of my cabinets and tried to convince me the one cabinet did not need it. They brought the wrong size cabinet and got very angry when I refused to let them install it. The absolutely most ridiculous part was when Tim asked me for another payment AFTER I had already paid the agreed deposit of 50%, saying that his other job was taking forever to finish and he needed to pay his guys. When I would not give him another payment he purposefully snipped then ends off of screws while aiming them at me in the kitchen. After install the cabinets were not all the same shade of white and had to be repainted. While hanging in my kitchen. The painter that showed up told me that I was being a bad mom to not take my kids out of the house while he was painting. (My parents were taking the kids to the park but had hung around in case Tim showed up, this was after the screw incident) That painter ended up walking off the job after I reminded him I was the homeowner and he should not shout at me. There were more incidents of frustration, and not something anyone should have to deal with. The cabinets were not sealed right, or just not sanded down before being painted because now black is starting to show on places. What should have been enjoyable after having to deal with a flooded house was only frustrating and difficult. I would never recommend Cali Custom Cabinets. Ever.
