Unfortunately we had a very poor experience with Canaan Homes and John Bridges. We hired John based on his reputation and reviews. Sadly, we had a completely opposite experience. Our friends purchased a Campbell home at the same time as we were building. The quality on their home is done at a much higher quality level than what John can produce.
A few issues we had (there isn’t room for all of them): All of the ceilings had to be repainted, stain colors weren’t matched, our hardwood floors needed to be completely refinished because they weren’t protected, fireplace tiles fell off, outlets were mis-aligned, trash was thrown under the stairs, doors had paint drips and weren't painted on the tops……..
Our favorite memories of the construction process:
1. Our kitchen island drawers weren’t closing properly because electrical wiring was rubbing on the drawers. John’s fix: cut holes in the backs of the drawers where the wires were hitting! Four drawers had to be replaced.
2. We had so many cracks in our stucco after 6 months that we hired a national expert to inspect it. John stated that cracks (hundreds) were “normal” and within the scope of his contract. The stucco expert said it was “the second worst stucco job he had seen in 25 years of inspections”. We had to meet with an attorney before John finally agreed to re-stucco the entire house. Finally (a year later) they did re-stucco the house, but forgot to do a 25sf area above our front door. Was John embarrassed they forgot the area? No, John argued that it didn’t need to be done. 3 months later finally did it after we hired another stucco company to come out and finish the job.Sorry, if you like to argue and accept poor workmanship the entire process of building a home then John is your guy. Good luck trying to separate truth from lies during the process.

John & Nick were incredible to work with. The constant open communication and flow of information was a very fresh and amazing experience - far from our experience of our prior builds.
From the initial design and selection process through each stage of construction it was very smooth. We made a few selection changes along the way and both John and Nick made that very easy to do while always keeping us informed of our overall cost to build on a regular basis. Johns 40:years of experience really shows
