Concrete work with pavers and metal fencing

Under no circumstance could I ever recommend this company “Canal Construction - Ahmed Hamto” to any prospective clients/customers to perform any constructive work in and around their house. He is deceptive, conniving, unreliable, dishonest and a narcisistic liar. I contracted Ahmed Hamto to perform and complete concrete with pavers and metal gates around the house to increase and uplift the value of my house. I detailed everything I needed to have done. He did not provide an official written contract/proposal. Instead, he drafted an estimation of $68,600.00 with no guaranteed warranty, with only his words of information that satisfied his craftiness. I asked him why he did not detailed everything of the work to be done. He stated, “I don’t have to put everything in writing, I know what I have to do.” I took his words for granted. This was May 17, 2021. To commence the job, Ahmed Hamto demanded $17,500.00 in two separate checks payable to Canal Construction. On the first day upon receipt of the checks, Ahmed came with his workmen, tools and company’s billboard. As soon as he received the checks and I went inside my house, Ahmed gathered everyone and everything and disappeared. He showed up three weeks later. Ahmed’s workmen worked few days on and off between 8:30am - 2:30pm whenever I would leave to go to work. Three weeks later Ahmed Hamto demanded another $16,000.00. I gave Ahmed $20,000.0 which I hoped he would work harder and faster to complete the work. I noticed Ahmed was not complying with the work order that I asked him to perform. I mentioned it to him and Ahmed said “Ma’am, it’s not in the contract, go read your contract (“the agreement “).” Nowhere in the contract tells you, that what you are telling me to do is listed in the contract, and did you not read and sign the contract.?”. Ahmed refused to complete the work. Instead, Ahmed demanded another $16,000.00. I refused to give Ahmed anymore funds until the work was at least half finished. Two weeks later, Ahmed came and gathered all his tools and his workmen and refused to return to complete my work unless he gets anymore funds. Then he started threatening me that he would put a lien on my house and that I need to meet with his legal team to discuss how I need to pay him more money to complete the work. After three months, Ahmed agreed that if I give him the $16,000.00, he would complete the work in 7-10 days. I conceded and gave Ahmed the $16,000.00. He came back two months later and left me shaking with $53,500.00. No handrails to guide me up or down the stairs; half finished head stones; side rails propped up against the side of my garage; no installed entrance gates as proposed. Instead, Ahmed demanded another $10,500.00 to install the already made side entrance gate and the driveway gate. and stated “once you give me that money, he would take it, throw away the gates in the garbage and don’t come back. ; cracked concrete all over the ground within one week of deposit; front porch canopy not designed as I proposed; down pouring of rain seeping through the roof/shingles of installed sheet rock; front lawn not completed as proposed; pointing of the bricks from the splashed concrete work he did while pouring the concrete; Handrails not securely fastened at the backyard. Ahmed refused to install the railings over the brick wall leading to the basement. I had to warn Ahmed of the danger of my 4 year old grandson and neighboring children playing in the backyard and climbing on to the wall, that was dangerous and could cause injury to anyone. Then Ahmed send the workmen to install the rails, but was left shaking without being securely fastened.. Ahmed. Hamto walked away with $53,500.00 and said he is done with his work and he is not coming back. Ahmed said “I got enough money from you, I am not coming back.” Until today, Ahmed Hamto never came back to complete my work. The water from the rain is still seeping down the columns on to the front porch of my house. I am posting this timely review to save someone else from having such an ordeal and same experience.
