Notes for Candy's Landscaping
My initial contact with this business was an attempt to fix our issues with landscaping and establish a contract (was established by the HOA, not our self sustaining board) so we had set days/times and a list of services provided.
I tried calling the business several times with no answer. I then left a message asking for new business - still no call back. I then called for 4 straight days (Sat/Sun/Mon and finally had Sandy the secretary answer on Tues afternoon. She claims I didn't leave a name so she didn't return the call. When explaining our situation (landscaping issues) she only would respond with hmmm hmmm's and then hung up when I ended the call with a polite "goodbye."
When I spoke with Candy things got worse. He was rude and instantly started to raise his tone with me. He told me he didn't appreciate me being sneaky and that he works with big companies. He went on saying that it "sounds like you don't work" to be taking pictures of the plants. This is when I stopped him and tried to explain that these two points have NOTHING to do with him and I'm only calling because we are not having basic landscaping issues.
Issues I tried to point out were as such:
1. Don't know when workers come (haven't seen them in awhile - over 1.5 weeks)
2. No weeding is done in the plant beds:
3. Plants were being hacked (minimized annual work) Vs. pruning *SEE SANTA BARBARA DAISY pictures
This is what Santa Barbara Daisy should look with care and pruning:
This is a picture of our hacked Santa Barbara Daisy plants - note they are constantly hacked to this level:
4.Replacing dead plants or having this option (he has never asked if we would pay extra for this) They would simply pull plants leaving holes:
5. Cleaning of plant beds (see leaves - sitting for over 2 weeks....maybe even longer:
Candy's Claims:
Santa Barbara Daisy plants should be pruned to the ground as a nub - not grown out into a blooming shrub.
Other plants and tree's treated in same manner.
Tree's were never hacked or as tall as I claim (even though I live here for 3 years and I've never seen him on property - board President confirmed she has only seen him once and other residents have only seen 3 different workers on site.
Repeatedly told me "no" when pointing out plant hacking issues - This led to my frustration and finally telling him to leave.
Couldn't provide day/time of "weekly" services or detail what they actually do.
Both Candy and his secretary - Sandy said they refuse to sweep/blow dirt or bark from sidewalks (from their work) or remove trash in plant beds.
Quotes:(these are directly from Candy - the owner of the business)
"I talk to people how they talk to me." - In response to telling him he & his secretary should work on his attitude / approach to PAYING customers even if they have complaints about the work.
"Sounds like you don't work." - In response to telling him I took photo's during the weekend of our plant beds. (FYI - I work full time 40-50 hours a week)
