AnonymousJuly 16, 2019Response from Cantalupo Construction January 17, 2024There was no agreement to provide a remodel for $15k as the client has described. The $15k was what the client wanted to spend and Cantalupo Construction was concerned it would not cover the cost to complete the project at the inception. The client asked for a master bathroom remodel that expanded into a master closet remodel as well. As discussed with the client, the project would be on a time and materials basis and until specific finishes were selected and there was no way to project an estimated cost at the beginning of the project until certain items were selected. Once the demo was completed and client had selected a couple items it was determined that the cost would be in excess of the $32k due to the selections made by the client. The client was unwilling to deviate from the selections made and Cantalupo Construction does not compromise quality, therefore the client and Cantalupo Construction parted ways.

Justin agreed to remodel a bathroom for 15k as outlined in the scope of work he provided. We requested the itemized breakdown multiple times. He began the job, and 2 weeks in when pressed for the itemized list of materials and allotted costs (so I could select finishes within the budget) he finally provided the itemized breakdown. It was 32k+ which didn't include multiple required items (counter, toilet etc). His response was that he miss quoted and this was a real number now. Needless to say, we went our separate ways with a gutted bathroom and time wasted. Would not recommend him to my worse enemy.
