I had new sub-flooring and install installation in my bathroom and on my porch. This included mew carpet and vinyl flooring The bathroom was also having a new tub and vanity/sink put in. Most of the floor in the bathroom didn't need to be replaced, but they had to shore up the portions of the floor they weren't replacing. Most of the work was done well, but the devil is in the details. It got to a point I had to make a punch list of things they were over-sighting.
The trim work to the doors in the bathroom needed portions replaced. They stabbed in a piece on one door that had a coating on it and couldn't be re-stained and the other they didn't match very well. They were always forgetting to turn back on the water in the bathroom when they left, didn't replace a piece of trim under the window they took off, switched the hot and cold water on the clothes washer, forgot to caulk around the tub and put in trim, cut a 4x4" hole in my new cabinet bottom to install a 2" pipe, didn't finish subflooring to under the boiler room door on the porch and cut the carpet short, ... It seemed the longer they were there the less they got accomplished.
At the end of it all, not only did I pay their quote, paid for all the materials, and served them Ice Tea, Water, Snacks; they had the nerve to charge me an additional $500 (which they were trying to charge $1,000 more).
I suggest if you want them to do work for you is to know a little bit about construction so you can monitor them, or better yet... Find a reputable company that pays attention to the details of the job without being monitored.
