    Decks & Bathrooms

Joel & Jim are very skilled. We love what they did on our front entry remodel and especially our back porch remodel. Joel is happy to change things when you express the vision you have as it differs from his idea. A neighbor also expressed her pleasure with a deck project she had Castle keep complete with only the expected complaint about cost which I see as comparable to others we have worked with. Our bathroom remodels took forever but it may be because material orders were slow to arrive, no fault of theirs. They are semi-retired and only work 4 hours a day maximum and work hourly. It seems that is another reason for the long completion time. The only complaint we really have is that we wanted a walk-in shower with no door and a glass water shield for most of the shower and assumed the entire bathroom floor would slope toward the drain. It did not for some reason and even the floor in the shower area did not slope properly to the drain. They have repeatedly attempted to belt sand the natural stone to make it drain but water still puddled and ran out into the room. They also tried to correct this by putting in a tile lip to stop this which we did not want but accepted it in the end. Now we have to use a towel to keep water in the shower area. Not a perfect job but we are living with it. I now wish I had had them install a less expensive shower door with a frame at the bottom which would have worked better. They were here 5 months and replaced the sub floor and poured concrete under tile but it was not sloped correctly. We were so tired of the mess we just gave up to get our life back to some contractor-less normalcy. All said, we love the look and most of the function. We just don't have the heart to call them back to tear it up and do it right. Good Contractor all in all.
