If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Horrible experience. Completely non-communicative. I held for 2 hours once, on purpose, repeatedly telling them I would wait to speak to the person I had called for and they tried to get me off of the phone, but I wouldn't budge. Even when they said she went to lunch. Then they conveniently put me into voicemail. I am 100% positive, I just lost about $15,000. Very upsetting that they took my money and I trusted them. They are HORRIBLE and they are CROOKS. They are scheduling new contracts trying to complete the pools from last year. They must have mismanaged their money BIG TIME! Horrible, Awful. ZERO STARS!

If I could give this business a negative review then I certainly would. Their team lacks accountability and honesty at all levels. We had to file a complaint against this business with the MHIC and threaten their trade license in order for them to even come close to finishing their work. Our project is still not done and we signed the contract in June of 2021 (16 months ago as of the date of this review).

I have been waiting for pool equipment for about 2 month I was told my pool would be complete by the end of May. Tile and coping was done the first week in June and I was told my pool equipment would be delivery in 2 week . I have called several times asking when will the equipment be delivery, I have been given excuse after excuse. I had made plan this summer and I had to cancel event cause of the way my yard looks. If in anyway you can try and find out why the run around, I refer someone to this company and I will not do it again in the begin everything was good and now it the end of summer and still no work done on my pool. I have call BBB to help with this matter

TWO YEARS LATER AND THEY HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED DIGGING.
I contacted Catalina Pools in 2020 to discuss building a pool. Shortly after that, still in 2020, I signed the contract and gave them a $14,000 deposit, with the assurance that we'd be swimming in 2021. It's been a nightmare from that point on. The salesman/project manager has lied about permits being filed, gave me engineers that were always going to "circle back to me"but never returned my calls, and then told me that I didn't need an engineer, that we could just get waivers instead.
I asked him the status at one point and he texted to say that he had just checked on it and it was "stuck in permits and inspections". Frustrated, I called my county Permit and Inspections office and they said nothing had been filed for months. They said they had given my plans back to Catalina Pools SIX months prior and hadn't heard anything since. All this time, the project manager told me that everything was moving along and 'in the works'. All lies.
When he quit returning my calls and texts, I contacted the Catalina Pool office directly and was told that the project manager was no longer with the company. The owner came out to take over, apologized, and assured me that everything would be handled differently. I was hopeful that we'd be swimming soon, but this has not been the case. Since his initial visit nothing has happened. I was told that the construction crew would contact me to get started within two days. Two weeks later, I have to call the office everyday and am only told that 'someone will reach out to me soon". When, in 2023? What a terrible was to do business. They were quick to take me deposit almost two years ago, and NOTHING has happened yet. Loads of lies and not returning my phone calls.
As a woman and a single mom, I think that the treatment I received was definitely different than a man would have received. I generally endlessly patient, and they took advantage of that. -
By Kent M.June 28, 2022Renovation of pool$15,000
We signed a contract with Catalina Pools to renovate our pool last year and gave them a $4200 deposit, since that time the communication has been pathetic on their part and will not respond to any emails or phone calls. They have been worthless! Avoid at all costs!

When they built my pool, they put all of the equipment in the lowest corner of my yard. I told them that corner frequently floods, but they insisted it would be ok. It wasn't. I have had to replace both motors, one of them twice, and now the pool heater, because they have all been under water. They finally installed a sump pump, which doesn't work, because it gets clogged with mud, and it looks ridiculous. I am now hiring another company, at significant expense, to replace the heater and build a platform. The.company took many months to build the pool, and totally ignored my concerns and subsequent complaints. Do not do business with this company. You will be so sorry.

By Sakeithea R.June 14, 2022Concrete Pool$95,000
We are currently under construction for our pool and this has been an awful experience. We started the process in May of 2021 and to date (June 14th, 2022) are not complete. The house was built quicker than the pool. To say they lack project management skills is an understatement! Poor customer service, extremely poor time management, no fallow thru, lack of accountability for their subcontractors, the list goes on. DO NOT HIRE this company!

By Phil W.July 12, 2021build a pool$60,000
We hired Catalina to construct our pool. They asked that we allow them to electronically transfer funds for our payments as they were due. We agreed. There are four items that we have asked them to address/fix for us. Not only have they not fixed them, they haven't even responded to any of our calls and emails. They were also not responsive many times during the process. They would tell you the day of that someone was coming to work on a phase of construction without any advance notice. If you want to hire a company to build a pool, I would not consider Catalina. You won't enjoy the experience. They are non-responsive. They don't finish the work. They don't do what they say they will do. If I could rate them zero stars I would. Their customer service is almost non-existent. I see other reviews where they say they are not known for poor customer service. Our experience shows that is exactly what they should be known for. In addition, taking full payment and not finishing the job or addressing any issues that arise from the construction process is bad business at its best and dishonest at its worst. They have failed to live up to their obligations under our contract. The only recommendation I can give related to Catalina is stay away.

This pool company is one hundred percent bait and switch. they offer you the best and give you run of the mill, we got the wrong color tile first, the pavers we wanted, they charged 25000 dollars for we never got, we had to settle for others.never got any money back, cheaper then what we picked out. paid for best fancy fencing got cheapest fence, now pool is three years old, it is cracking in three spots, pool company is not returning my calls. what a way to treat a customer who spent over 70.000 dollars. stay away or they will reck your dreams and pick your pocket! There should be a law, to put people like this out of business. every time you call, the person you spoke to before, does not work here any more, so you have to go through your whole problem again and never any one in management available to talk to. What a ripoff pool company! Parkton Maryland Mark Walters

I started my pool with Catalina on February 25th and today is June 12th and I’m not even close to swimming in my pool. I signed the contract on February 4th and the salesman said he’d get me on the schedule to start construction the next weeks. 3 weeks later after several unanswered phone calls they started. The first crew was the excavators and they broke my fence and destroyed the side of my house. They left so much dirt in my driveway that I couldn’t tell I had a concrete driveway under it all. Next the gunnite crew came pulled their truck through my yard all the way to the back. They left tire tracks about 40 ft long and 2 ft deep. In the process of spraying the gunnite in the pool they splatter it all over the brick patio I just had installed last year. They then sent a guy out to clean it and used such a powerful power washer that he knocked all the mortar out of the bricks and blew a piece of trim off a support column. Next the plumbers came and used my backyard as a trash can. When they left we found multiple water bottles, energy drinks, cigarette packets and coffee cups in our backyard. Next the electricians were supposed to come on a Friday and no called and no showed me. This really made me angry because you have to take off for the electrical phase of the project because they need access to the inside of your house. So the next Friday the electricians showed up and broke a pipe in my basement and got water everywhere. It ruined several things in my basement. The electricians Did pay for the plumber to fix the broken pipe but nothing that the water did damage to. Last Saturday the concrete crew was supposed to be here at 8:00 am and didn’t get here until noon and even then it was just one person who spoke little English and had no tools. All he did was hit me for more money because Catalina didn’t provide enough concrete in their contract for a suitable walkway. He told me he would be back today to start the concrete pour but called yesterday and said he had to push me back a week because of a 20 minute rain we had yesterday. At this rate I’m praying for a warm winter because I don’t plan on swimming in this pool until Christmas. People if you’ve taken the time to read this review and still hire Catalina pools you’re a fool. Their prices may be some of the cheapest around but it’s very important you know exactly what you’re getting from them. It turns out some of the more expensive companies I got quotes from would’ve been better in the long run because they would have done landscaping, fencing, enough concrete, etc.... HIRING CATALINA POOLS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE AND IVE BEEN MARRIED AND DIVORCED TWICE PEOPLE!!!

The owner, Don, was the rudest and most unprofessional business owner I have ever met. He yelled at me on the phone..,after hanging up on me. Told me I was a terrible person, and refused to refund a deposit for a job that was never started. How this person has stayed in business for as long as he says is impossible to understand. I have never been treated with such disrespect.

By James D.August 5, 2017New Swimming Pool Installation$40,000Read more
At the time of the pool purchase, Catalina stated that they were specifically adding in an underground drain pipe on the north side of the pool to allow drainage along the bank next to the pool. This was not part of Catalina’s normal installation process and was an additional item that Catalina installed to allow drainage of water.
The problems in the love seat area first appeared in 2013. At that time, Catalina indicated that the problems in the love seat area were just surface cracking of the plaster and replaced the plaster in that area in late June / July 2014.
I notified Catalina of the latest issues with the walls, the steps, and the love seat in August 2016. I was told that someone would come out and that these would be addressed by the end of the 2016. Catalina delayed the inspection/repairs from 2016 to 2017 & indicated that everything would be addressed before the 2017 summer season.
In May 2017, Catalina and an engineer inspect the pool. Eventually, the Engineer determined that there were problems with the pool installation performed by Catalina (poor drainage around the pool installation). .
I now have an empty pool with three jack-hammered holes in the bottom of the pool. Algae is growing and mosquitoes are breeding in the bottom of the pool.
I have lost an entire summer swimming season because Catalina has refused to repair the pool.
Ultimately, I want Catalina Pool Builders to complete repair of the pool ASAP along with a warranty for the repair work.
For many months, I have asked Catalina to provide:
1. A detailed copy of the Engineer's inspection results and the Engineer's recommendations to resolve the situation (including the cracks in the walls and floor of the pool, the cracked/ decaying steps in the shallow end of the pool, and the problem with the walls and base of the love seat). NOTE: The Engineer's Report was finally received from Catalina in July along with Catalina's response that they are NOT going to honor the lifetime structural warranty on the pool.
2. During the on-site inspection, the Engineer indicated that "identical" problems had been experienced with the steps in other pools that Catalina had constructed. I would like to understand what these problems were, what actions were taken to address the steps in other pool installations, and the outcome of the repairs. NOTE: Catalina has never responded to this request.
3. A detailed plan (including schedule) including actions that Catalina is going to take to resolve the issues with the swimming pool. NOTE: Catalina has never responded to this request.
I would rate Catalina all zero's but the rating scale does not allow that option.

They go by Catalina Pools now. They were horrible to deal with. I wouldn't recommend Sunrise Premiere Pool Builders to anyone ever.

By Sherri R.May 26, 2016Pool$40,00018 days
We had our in-ground pool put in 3 years ago. Last year, I noticed crack and rust coming through plaster. Catalina was out 3 times last year to fix and finally admitted the whole pool would need to be re-plastered. They said would be best to wait until this spring to do the re-plaster. Finally came out after numerous phone calls and it turns out to be a problem with the concrete. Have been waiting for over a week to get concrete company "Top Gun" and Catalina out to let us know what is exactly wrong and when they will fix it. Have been calling Catalina everyday and know one can give me an answer. I'm still waiting to hear back from Leland (been three days). I called the office they say they'll return your call and never do. Has been a very stressful and aggravating experience to have so many problems with a 2-year-old pool and then to be dealt with the way I am from Catalina. 100% would NOT recommend this company.

I wish that I can give them zero rating. They put a pool in and in 2 years the plaster started to fall off. Call and conplained. They ask me to send them photo's which I did. I kepted calling and calling but they kept giving me the runaround. They never came out to look at it. Since it was still under warrantiy I decided to call a contractor on my own. I had one guy gave me the price of $5,000.00 to repair it. I agree to the price.(because I was going to sue Cantalina for the cost. But to my bad luck after putting down half of the deposit. This contractor bail out on me. (I did get my money back). Now the pool is close for the winter. The following year call another contractor. He was to show up a few weeks later. Again this guy bails out also. Again it's late in the season but I kept trying. Another contractor but they wanted 10,000.00! This kept going on for 3 years. Now the warranty has ran out. I'm 76 years old I'm done.....I wish that I have never put this pool in. Where was I suppose to come up with this kind of money? Oh and by the way , This was my biggest problem dealing with them. I or my daughter-in-law call every day. About other prolems coming up before this. I am so glad I kept all emails conplaints. SO IF ANYONE OR GROUP ARE SUEING THIS COMPANY. PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH ME. ( [email protected]
