This contractor was hired last November to complete a Job by the middle of January. He insisted on most of the money down (I should have known right then). He delayed our project for many months, other contractors on the job had difficulty working with him, and he spent the money he had been given to catch up on other jobs (I assume). The job was finally completed in September, only after I purchased the remaining materials myself and threatened legal action. I found that this is not uncommon for him, as I've met other people who gave him down payments and then they waiting for many months and had to threaten legal action before he would work.
