My wife and I hired C F Arends & Co in the spring of 2013 to build our new home. We paid him in excess of 120K in the first three installments. He demanded that we pay him an advance of 22K on the final payment so that he could pay his suppliers. When we refused to give him any more money before completion (terms of the contract) he walked off the job. We were forced to find another contractor and are now severely delayed in the completion of this project with the winter coming soon. Since Mr. Arends has not paid his bills we have had liens placed on our property. In addition there are some serious issues with the work he performed. We have a post that is 3/4" out of plumb in a 8' run, a roof so out of square that you can see it with your naked eye, cement breaking and settling. I WOULD NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
