    building contractor

I would not recommend Charlie Hipsher. At the time when we hired him he did not have a contractors license since 2014 so I advise anyone to check on this. He took on a house that I don't think he had a clue how to do. I thought he had a experienced crew. Turns out it is his 25 year old son and sometimes his 15 year son. That is it. We signed a contract with him on Feb. 19th and basically he dragged his feet and lied to us for months. When I changed my mind about building because it was such a slow process all of the sudden he had someone the next week to break ground. Well next week ended up being 3 weeks later. Finally on July 8th 2021 our slab was poured. Almost 5 months later. My husband asked him to do anchor bolts and he refused. Said sarcastically "we dont do that here". The slab was a nightmare to say the least. Measurements were off everywhere. I do not know who framed the footings but apparently they do not know how to use a measuring tape. Charlie did not ask the workers to use a float on our slab therefor there were bumps all throughout plus cracks everywhere as it dried. They did not even cut the cement. This resulted in us having no choice to do a re pour at our expense of $8000.00. First to get the height up to code from 7 inches to 12. We had to rent a cement drill and cut 4 inches off certain areas as well as re form and add 5 inches to certain areas. We had to move 3 pipes that would not have ended up being in the walls. Charlie ordered our windows which were all the wrong sizes as we cut the ceilings from 10 ft to 9 ft therefor should have changed the sizes of the windows. Now we are stuck with a special order with windows that almost come to the floor. He ordered extra windows that we didnt need and then forgot to order dormer windows that we did need. I was constantly reminding him of things I wanted. His reply would be " oh yeah thats right". Does he not take notes about a build. Again another lie. He told us lumber would be delivered the next day July 9th and framer to start that Monday. When lumber was not delivered I got suspicious. I decided to call the framer, Well well the framer knew nothing about starting.Had not heard from Charlie in weeks. This made Charlie furious that I not only caught him in a lie but I went over his head and stuck my nose where apparently it didnt belong. This is the phone call where he quit. Now this was on a Friday. I gave him 3 days to get my receipts together and told him I wanted my balance and a check. he arrived with no check. Gave me my plans and practically ran to his car. I had to communicate through text messages. At first they started off OK but quickly got worse. I pleaded with Charlie to please be fair and give me back what I was owed. He tried to belittle me by calling me immature and threatening. His character changed real quick from when we first met him. He had not done much up until this point and I am not stupid. I did the math and tried to figure out what was spent. I was very generous with figures. Seeing he refuses to justify his expenses with proof. I come up with the fact he owes me $28,000 or more. He writes me a hand written letter with a generalized charge and sends me a check for %3,900.00 3 WEEKS LATER. Plus he has charged me on the entire cost of my house COMPLETE. The only thing he completed was a slab. But I apparently owe him for complete house of $410,000. Charlie told me he welcomes me taking him to court. He said " that will only be the beginning". What does that mean.

build my home and other projects
    great contractor

Charlie has built 20 + houses that I know of including mine that my family and I are well pleased with Athony Williams from Rutledge that wrote the first review should be thankful Mr.Hipsher didn't file suit against him . Those that know Charlie and Anthony know the situation there. It's sad people like Anthony do things like writing silly reviews to try to harm Mr Hipshers reputation .
