I do not recommend using Chavan Electric or Ed. Chavan. On August 16, 2023 Mr. Ed Chavan of Chavan Electric replaced our pool light, charging us $750 for a Colorlogic pool fixture install and deck box repiping. Originally, he estimated the charge would be $425. However, he indicated that due to problems with damaged wire at the deck box from a friend trying to remove the fixture, he had to do extra work to install it properly. He let us know the pool fixture was now working and the final price would be $750. Mr. Chavan did not tell us about any other concerns once the job was complete.
When we opened our pool this year on April 24th, 2024 the pool light was in the bottom of the pool. Mr. Chavan came to the house to assess the problem on May 1, 2024 . When we asked him how that could have happened, he indicated there was a problem with the installation last year with the size of the screws and he had difficulty securing the light properly. However, he did not mention any problem with the fit during the original installation at all. He now quoted us a price of $600 to reinstall a new light, claiming we gave him a defective light.
When we questioned if we would just have the same problem again with the light falling to the bottom of the pool, he stated no because he would use some kind of retrofit kit to make it fit properly this time. When we asked him why he did not do that the first time, his answer was evasive.
