  Yard and hauling

  My experience was similar to above poster, Jim D. Although I didn’t have trees cut down, he kept giving me different prices and ways of going about a job. I won’t get into too much detail because I fear he will retaliate. I have a witness to what was agreed on and paid him in full for the job. He then became ‘unhinged’, exactly the word the previous poster used! He started swearing at me, yelling at me and completely losing his mind over something HE agreed to! I was confused and felt very unsafe. After I told him to get off of my property, he texted me paragraphs and paragraphs, cussing me out and saying bizarre things. It was a HORRIBLE ordeal for a simple job that he was paid in full for. There were no issues with the job except HIM. Very frightening experience that I nearly had a rest staining order taken out because he started leaving notes on my door. BEWARE.

  Trim branches overhanging roof

  If you yelp him, you will find only 1 star and nothing higher!
  Do not hire Chris Yard Detail in Lake Arrowhead. We had a couple oak trees that needed a few branches trimmed to 10 feet from the roof for insurance purposes to comply with fire code at our weekend cabin. I Phoned CYD and talked to Tom about trimming the oaks. I have dealt with CYD and Tom several times in the past and don’t have much trust in them. Why did I contact them? Foolishly, because this was time sensitive with the insurance company and I didn’t have time to shop around.
  When I called, Tom said he would drop by and look at the trees and give an estimate. He did and we arranged to have the work done in 2 days when I could make it up there. He wanted to start early but I told him I couldn’t get up there early and to make the appointment for noon. I arrived about 45 minutes before noon so that I could be there to make sure they only cut the limbs in question. When I got there, I was shocked at what I saw. His crew completely cut 2 oak trees down to the stumps. I was right not to trust him. That’s why I didn’t want them to start work till I arrived.
  He said the reason he did what he did was because trimming away from the roof would make the trees look just like poles (not true). He also said that this was a judgement call because he didn’t want to send his men up in the trees where they might fall. They are my trees and not his call to cut the entire trees down and if he was concerned about safety then turn down the job instead of cutting them down.
  He also said that he knows what the insurance companies want to make the property fire safe. I don’t like to play the firefighter card, rarely do. But I had to this time. I told him that I have been a firefighter for 22 years. I didn’t get a chance to tell him that I also worked in prevention. By this time, he was totally unhinged but that didn’t matter. He sill knew better than me, throwing the F-bomb multiple times trying to justify what he did. Never saw a business treat a customer like that. Very unstable individual.
  This company also sells firewood. Normally when a company cuts down trees, they ask what to do with the wood. Take it away or cut and stack it. They figure, I guess, that they just got free wood to sell.
  Bottom line: They were my trees and it was my call to make what to do with them, not his. Now we have no shade trees on our front porch, trees that have been there since my grandmother bought the cabin back in 1950.
  Do not trust fast talking Tom or Chris’ Yard Detail.

  I HAVE HAD CHRIS'S YARD DETAIL SINCE GOT OUT OF THE SERVICE I GOT OUT OF THE MILITARY AND MOVE BACK TO THE MOUNTAINS. THEY HAVE BEEN A VERY GOOD SERVICE FOR ME AND MAY FAMILY. THERE IS NO COMPLAINT FOR SERVICE OR TIME TO DO JOB AROUND MY PROPERTY.
